Jeremy Piven apparently wanted to be on the final season of “Ballers.”

According to Rob Weiss, Piven wanted to appear on the fifth and final season of the hit HBO show as an agent. Piven famously played agent Ari Gold in “Entourage” for several years, and the role shot him to superstar status. (REVIEW: ‘Westworld’ Season 3 Ends With The Possible Deaths Of Multiple Characters)

However, it didn’t work out, and the star actor never appeared on “Ballers.” You can listen to Weiss break it down with Dough Ellin below.

Now, it is unclear whether or not Piven wanted to be on “Ballers” as Gold or as a generic agent, but I’m assuming it had to have been as his “Entouragecharacter.

If you’re going to appear as an agent on another HBO show, you simply don’t create a new one. You ride with the one that made you famous.

Secondly, this was a huge mistake by HBO for not finding a way to push Ari Gold into the final season of “Ballers.”

Piven and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson would have been great on screen together, and it would have been such an incredible hat tip to “Entourage,” which was the better version of “Ballers” years earlier.

We’ll never know what could have been, and that’s a damn shame!
