The Weeknd announced Thursday that he will perform at halftime of the 2021 Super Bowl.

The pop superstar posted a message on Instagram breaking the news about Super LV, and wrote in part, “performing on the iconic stage. see you 02/07/21.” (RELATED: David Hookstead Is The True King In The North When It Comes To College Football)

First off, let me be the first one to announce that The Weeknd makes some absolutely bangers. I’d be lying if I said I didn’t have a few of his songs on Spotify.

“Wicked Games” was a monster hit when it dropped, and I can’t get enough of that song. The chorus is unreal.

Having said that, is The Weeknd the best option for the Super Bowl? Is he? I have a feeling your average football fan would be down more with country music. Maybe Shania Twain or George Strait?

The problem with picking the entertainment with the Super Bowl is that you’re not really picking it for football fans.

The Super Bowl is a social event for most people, which means you have to open up the talent pool for the halftime show.

While I’m not huge on The Weeknd doing the 2021 show, there are certainly worse options.
