When 43-year-old Doug Henning met his biological father at the airport for the first time, he got into the holiday spirit and dressed up for the occasion, 7 News Boston reported.

Henning dressed up as Buddy from the well known and loved Christmas movie, “Elf” and sang to his father at Boston Logan International Airport, 7 News Boston reported.

Henning, who grew up not knowing who his father was, ended up unexpectedly finding his father on Ancestry.com earlier this year. Henning explained that in a way, his story is a bit similar to the character of Buddy. (RELATED: Celebrate Will Ferrell’s Birthday With His Best Movies)

Since finding each other on ancestry.com, the father and son have spent time getting to know each other via phone calls and online options prior to meeting up. Henning explained that he is excited that he and his father have a lot in common.

“It’s really weird having the same mannerisms and different things and you wonder where you pick up things in life,” Henning explained. “You don’t know and you see someone doing it.”

“My takeaway from it all is that I’m just really excited and stoked because now I feel like I have the pieces to the puzzle that were missing,” Henning added.
