Pro-democracy elements in Hong Kong and other places in Asia are worried about a shift in policy with regards to China when President-elect Joe Biden is inaugurated in January, according to a report from The New York Times.
Human rights activists scattered across Asia fear that Biden could pursue policies of appeasement with President Xi Jinping of China, The New York Times reported. Many of these pro-democracy advocates in Asia have taken warmly to Trump’s foreign policy in the region, and — like many Trump supporters in the United States — are still holding out for a Trump victory in the 2020 election.
