On Tuesday, a group of civil rights leaders urged [JOE BIDEN] privately to take a slew of executive action during a two-hour virtual meeting. While he didn’t close the door to anything specific, he was far from enthusiastic about the idea, according to audio of the meeting I obtained. […]

Biden also warned the civil rights leaders that pressure on the incoming administration around police reform could hurt the party’s chances in the Georgia Senate runoffs, claiming that the Republicans ability to define that party as in favor of defunding the police is “how they beat the living hell out of us across the country.”

Biden insisted that his commitment to police reform was unwavering, but argued that the branding effort had done too much damage. The comments were made during a virtual meeting between Biden, Vice President-elect Kamala Harris, and civil rights leaders, a recording of which was obtained by The Intercept.

Portland Autonomous Zone Is ‘Stockpiling Weapons,’ Has Armed Patrols, Police Say

Portland’s autonomous zone, which is moving into its third day, has been “stockpiling weapons” and has instituted armed patrols to defend the walled-in city occupation, authorities said.

Since the encampment began, rioters have increased fortifications around city streets, assaulted residents, and law enforcement has noticed the presence of “armed sentries” patrolling intersections, according to a press release from the Portland Police Bureau (PPB).

The autonomous zone, which has been dubbed “Red House on Mississippi” formed after city officials attempted to enforce a home foreclosure on the Kinney’s, a black and indigenous family, The Oregonian reported.

BEGUN, THE BLM CIVIL WAR HAS… ‘Intentional Erasure’: Black Lives Matter Fractures Over Power As Chapters Split From Network

Black Lives Matter has fractured in recent weeks as local chapters allege national leaders have withheld funding while shifting the direction of the movement.

The Black Lives Matter (BLM) movement was founded on the premise of empowering local chapters and activists on the ground, but in recent months those leaders have complained national leadership is centralizing power, according to Politico. Ten local chapters of the BLM Global Network Foundation announced Nov. 30 that they would sever ties with national leadership in a statement entitled “It is Time for Accountability.”

“There’s been intentional erasure,” Sheri Dickerson, the leader of Black Lives Matter Oklahoma City, told Politico.

MEDIA IGNORE… Media Organizations Turn Blind Eye To Struggles Of Black Lives Matter Groups

Despite consistently reporting on the Black Lives Matter movement, major publications failed to cover apparent in-fighting between the global group and local chapters.

A number of local BLM groups have questioned the finances of the global BLM organization, called BLM Global Network (BLMGN). The Daily Caller News Foundation reported in June that BLMGN spent millions on traveling, compensation and consultant costs for staffers from July 2017 through June 2019.

During that same time period, BLMGN gave only $328,000 to outside groups – and now, ten local chapters are speaking out and accusing the organization of not supporting them.

BIDEN CLAIMS HE’LL HOLD OFF THE RADICALS… Leaked Audio: Biden Says He Opposes Using Executive Authority The Way His ‘Progressive Friends’ Have Suggested (AUDIO)

President-elect Joe Biden opposes using executive authority on a laundry list of policy items which his “progressive friends” are pressuring him to act on, leaked audio shows.

Biden’s comments came during a Tuesday zoom meeting with a group of civil rights leaders. The Intercept’s Deconstructed podcast published audio of the closed press conference call Thursday morning.

“So there’s some things that I’m going to be able to do by executive order,” Biden says on the recording. “I’m not going to hesitate to do it, but what I’m not going to do is… when you’d have some of the people you were supporting saying, ‘On Day One I’m gonna have an executive order to do this!’ Not within the constitutional authority.”

THEN AGAIN… FLASHBACK… LITERALLY 3 DAYS AGO… Schumer Says Biden Is ‘Considering’ Eliminating $50,000 In Student Debt For People Making Less than $125,000 A Year

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer said Monday that President-elect Joe Biden is “considering” eliminating a large chunk of the nation’s student loan debt.

Schumer, speaking to reporters in New York, said that he has urged Biden to consider waiving $50,000 in debt for individuals making less than $125,000 a year.

“I have told him how important it is. He is considering it,” he stated. “We believe he does [have the executive authority], and he’s researching that. I believe that when he does his research, he will find that he does.”

WHERE’S HUNTER? Fox News Reporter Gets Shooed Away After Asking Jill Biden About Hunter News (VIDEO)

Fox News correspondent Griff Jenkins got “shooed away” along with the rest of the journalists after trying to ask Dr. Jill Biden about her son Hunter Biden’s tax investigation news Thursday.

Jill Biden spoke to the D.C. National Guard in her first solo event since President-elect Joe Biden’s victory speech in November. One reporter “asked if she had a message for the American people” amid COVID-19, according to the pool report written by PBS NewsHour correspondent John Yang.

After Biden responded to this question, Jenkins asked about her son, at which point “wranglers” intervened.

FUN FOR THE WHOLE FAMILY… POLITICO: Justice Department’s interest in Hunter Biden covered more than taxes

The federal investigation into President-elect Joe Biden’s son Hunter has been more extensive than a statement from Hunter Biden indicates, according to a person with firsthand knowledge of the investigation.

On Wednesday, Hunter Biden said he had been contacted about a tax investigation out of the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Delaware.

In addition to Delaware, the securities fraud unit in the Southern District of New York also scrutinized Hunter Biden’s finances, according to the person with direct knowledge of the investigation. The person said that, as of early last year, investigators in Delaware and Washington were also probing potential money laundering and Hunter Biden’s foreign ties. The person spoke on the condition of anonymity because they are not authorized to discuss the matter publicly.

RNC: Nancy Pelosi: “I don’t have any concern about Mr. Swalwell” (VIDEO)

PELOSI TRIES TO CREATE A DISTRACTION FOR SWALWELL… JULIO ROSAS: Pelosi says Kevin McCarthy is focusing on Swalwell’s interaction with the suspected Chinese spy bc he “has Qanon in his delegation over there. Swalwell Spoke At Same 2013 Event As Alleged Chinese Spy Who Worked For Dianne Feinstein

California Rep. Eric Swalwell, whose contacts with a Chinese spy were revealed this week, spoke at the same event in 2013 as another alleged Chinese agent who worked for decades for California Sen. Dianne Feinstein.

The event was hosted by the group led by Christine Fang, a Chinese national whose relationship with Swalwell was the subject of a report published this week by Axios. There is no indication of wrongdoing on Swalwell’s part.

The California State University, East Bay Chinese Student Association hosted both Swalwell and Russell Lowe, who then worked for Feinstein, at an event to commemorate the Chinese Lunar New Year on Feb. 9, 2013, according to the group’s Facebook page.

FOX: China’s extensive ‘honey trap’ spy network could involve thousands of ploys underway now, ex-operative says

It is the stuff of a James Bond blockbuster: a young, attractive woman lures a rising political star into a romantic web, all the while collecting critical information to trickle back to her handler or big bosses back home.

Axios revealed this week that more than six years ago Rep. Eric Swalwell, D-Calif., began a relationship with a woman suspected of being a Chinese espionage operative. He was alerted by federal investigators in 2015 and given a “defense briefing,” which resulted in him breaking off ties to the suspect.

However, Swalwell wouldn’t be the first or last political figure to be “honey-trapped” – with multiple former intelligence officials surmising that such schemes carried out by Chinese spies have long played out on U.S. soil, and remain ongoing.

SHE’S BAAAAAACK… Biden Taps Susan Rice To Run White House Domestic Policy Council

President-elect Joe Biden tapped former national security adviser Susan Rice to lead the White House Domestic Policy Council, sources familiar with the decision told multiple outlets Thursday.

Rice previously served under former President Barack Obama as a national security advisor and as U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, Politico reported. Though the Biden campaign vetted her as a possible vice presidential running mate, this position was given to vice president-elect Kamala Harris.

Rice was also considered a contender for Secretary of State, according to Politico, but this position was given to Antony Blinken.

Democrats had concerns about Rice’s ability to get confirmed in a Republican-controlled Senate, and the director of the Domestic Policy Council is not a Senate-confirmed position. The Biden team had been looking to find a high-profile role for Rice, but the top domestic policy job comes as a surprise given her expertise and experience in foreign policy.

EVEN TIME MAGAZINE KNOWS BIDEN NEEDS HELP… Joe Biden And Kamala Harris Selected As Time Magazine’s Person Of The Year

Time Magazine named President-elect Joe Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris its 2020 Person of the Year.

Time editor-in-chief Edward Felsenthal wrote that it was the first time the magazine included a vice president as its Person of the Year, and that Biden, who is 78, is among the oldest people to have been selected.

Vice President-elect Kamala Harris’ husband Douglas Emhoff will be spending his days as a professor at Georgetown Law while his wife assumes the second most powerful position in politics.

“I am delighted that Douglas Emhoff will be joining our faculty,” Georgetown Law Dean William M. Treanor said in a statement Thursday. “Doug is one of the nation’s leading intellectual property and business litigators, and he has a strong commitment to social justice. I know our students will greatly benefit from his experience and insight, and I am eagerly looking forward to his arrival.”

The first ever Second Gentleman, Emhoff will serve as a Distinguished Visitor from Practice, teaching Entertainment Law beginning in January for the spring semester. He will also serve as a Distinguished Fellow of Georgetown Law’s Institute for Technology Law and Policy which is part of a new entertainment and media law initiative that will host numerous speakers and conduct various projects, according to the press release.

NYT: F.D.A. Advisory Panel Gives Green Light to Pfizer Vaccine

Pfizer’s Covid-19 vaccine passed a critical milestone on Thursday when a panel of experts formally recommended that the Food and Drug Administration authorize the vaccine. The agency is likely to do so within days, giving health care workers and nursing home residents first priority to begin receiving the first shots early next week.

The F.D.A.’s vaccine advisory panel, composed of independent scientific experts, infectious disease doctors and statisticians, voted 17 to 4, with one member abstaining, in favor of emergency authorization for people 16 and older. With rare exceptions, the F.D.A. follows the advice of its advisory panels.

With this formal blessing, the nation may finally begin to slow the spread of the virus just as infections and deaths surge, reaching a record of more than 3,000 daily deaths on Wednesday. The F.D.A. is expected to grant an emergency use authorization on Saturday, according to people familiar with the agency’s planning, though they cautioned that last-minute legal or bureaucratic requirements could push the announcement to Sunday or later.

Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Wolf Imposes New Lockdowns, Bans Indoor Dining, Large Gatherings

Democratic Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Wolf announced Thursday that the state would begin a three-week partial lockdown on Dec. 12 amidst a rise in coronavirus cases.

“Today I am announcing additional, temporary COVID-19 protective mitigation measures in the commonwealth,” Wolf said in a statement. “With these measures in place, we hope to accomplish three goals: First, stop the devastating spread of COVID-19 in the commonwealth. Second, keep our hospitals and health care workers from becoming overwhelmed. And third, help Pennsylvania get through the holiday season – and closer to a widely available vaccine–as safely as possible.”

“This is a bridge to a better future in Pennsylvania,” Wolf, who announced Wednesday that he tested positive for the coronavirus, continued.

Reps. Tulsi Gabbard And Markwayne Mullin Introduce Bill That Would Allow Only Biological Females In Women’s Sports

Democratic Hawaii Rep. Tulsi Gabbard and Republican Oklahoma Rep. Markwayne Mullin introduced legislation that would clarify Title IX protections for female athletes as based on biological sex, a press release said Thursday.

The “Protect Women’s Sports Act” recognizes the different abilities conferred by biological sex, the statement says. Title IX protects people from discrimination based on sex in education programs or activities that receive federal funding.

“Title IX was a historic provision championed by Hawaii’s own Congresswoman Patsy Mink in order to provide equal opportunity for women and girls in high school and college sports,” Gabbard said in the statement. “It led to a generational shift that impacted countless women, creating life-changing opportunities for girls and women that never existed before.”

ANOTHER ONE… Morocco Will Normalize Relations With Israel, Trump Administration Announces

President Donald Trump announced Thursday that the Kingdom of Morocco has agreed to normalize relations with Israel, making it the latest in a string of majority-Muslim countries to do so.

“Another HISTORIC breakthrough today!” the president tweeted. “Our two GREAT friends Israel and the Kingdom of Morocco have agreed to full diplomatic relations – a massive breakthrough for peace in the Middle East!”

Senior advisor to the president Jared Kushner told reporters shortly after the president’s announcement that Morocco — like other signatories onto the Abraham Accords — will immediately open liaison offices in Israel, start scheduling direct flights from the country to Israel, and foster “cooperation” between companies in both nations. He confirmed that in addition to Morocco’s decision to normalize relations, Trump had also signed a proclamation recognizing Morocco’s sovereignty over the Western Sahara.

Most Major Credit Card Companies Now Block Payments To Pornhub

Most major credit card companies have announced they will block payments to Pornhub following allegations that the pornography website profits from sexual exploitation on its platform.

Both Visa and Mastercard told the Daily Caller News Foundation Thursday that they are not allowing their cards to be used on the website. Mastercard said it had terminated the use of it’s cards, while Visa said it has at least temporarily suspended processing payments to Pornhub “pending the completion of our ongoing investigation.”

“These actions are exceptionally disappointing, as they come just two days after Pornhub instituted the most far-reaching safeguards in user-generated platform history,” Pornhub said in a statement to the DCNF, noting that it had “banned downloads” and “made some key expansions to [its] moderation process.”
