What America Can Learn From Europe’s Fight Against Big Tech

The European Union introduced sweeping new rules against Big Tech earlier this month as part of an ongoing campaign to regulate harmful content online and open up the technology industry to more competition.

Two pieces of legislation — the Digital Markets Act and Digital Services Act — were introduced Dec. 15 by the European Commission. The regulations would require companies to limit illegal material from spreading on their platforms, provide regulators with greater access to their internal data and appoint independent auditors to ensure compliance.
