President Donald Trump pardoned 15 people Tuesday and granted clemency to five more, sparking uproar and accusations that he was improperly using his presidential powers. When compared to past presidents, though, Trump didn’t do anything out of the ordinary.
Trump used his pardon power to help several allies of his campaign and administration, including George Papadopoulos. “Mr. Papadopoulos was charged with a process-related crime, one count of making false statements, in connection with Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation,” the White House said in a statement.
