Will Big Tech De-Platform A Citizen Trump?

Social media rules could change for President Donald Trump following his January re-entry into the private sector. Many of the president’s posts are already flagged by Twitter. If Trump loses his status as one of the world’s leaders, the platform’s policies could be applied more stringently — even making Trump subject to removal.

But there may also be financial and political considerations. Traditional media outlets learned in 2016 that Trump is a boon to the business, and he has frequently made this point to various outlets. Should the president exit the platform, there could be a monetary reckoning. But as the president mulls a 2024 bid, the question remains: How will Twitter handle a citizen Trump?
