LOUDER, FOR THE PEOPLE IN THE BACK… ‘Whoop Dee Doo’: Ron DeSantis Blows Off His Own Chances At An Early Vaccine. ‘I’m Not The Priority’ (VIDEO)

Republican Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis said Wednesday that he did not plan to use his status as an elected official to get early access to the coronavirus vaccine.

DeSantis explained that although he might have access to the vaccine due to his position as the Governor of Florida, he did not intend to make himself a priority.

“I’m willing to take it, but I am not the priority,” DeSantis explained, saying that because he was under 45 and people under 45 were not considered to be high risk, he would not jump to the head of the line.

“When it is my turn, I will take it,” DeSantis continued, saying that he wanted those at higher risk to have the chance to be vaccinated first.

“Granted I’m an elected official, but whoop dee doo. At the end of the day, let’s focus on where the risk is,” he concluded.

‘No Realistic Path’: McConnell Blocks Standalone $2,000 Stimulus Checks Bill (VIDEO)

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and Republican Pennsylvania Sen. Pat Toomey blocked a standalone bill Wednesday afternoon to increase the coronavirus relief payments in the latest COVID-19 aid package from $600 to $2,000.

McConnell and Toomey blocked an attempt by Democrats to either pass or vote on the bill by unanimous consent, which McConnell later spoke about on the Senate floor, criticizing Independent Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders for trying to bring the increase to the stimulus checks.

“Now our colleague from Vermont is again putting political stunts before the needs of our men and women in uniform. Our colleague says he will slow down this vital bill unless he gets to muscle through another standalone proposal from Speaker Pelosi that would add roughly half a trillion dollars to the national debt,” McConnell said in his floor speech.

“Which does not align with what President Trump has suggested. And which has no realistic path to quickly pass the Senate. Well, as I’ve said, the Senate will not let our national security be shoved off course. Certainly not by senators who have spent years trying to gut America’s capabilities while our adversaries continue ramping up,” he continued.

THE WUHAN TAKES MARY ANN… ‘Gilligan’s Island’ Star Dawn Wells Dies At 82 Of Causes Related To COVID-19

Actress Dawn Wells died Wednesday of COVID-19 related causes.

Wells was 82 at the time of her death, according to CNN. The actress was the last surviving cast member of “Gilligan’s Island” besides Tina Louise, who played Ginger Grant, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Wells played Mary Ann on the CBS television series.

“Mary Ann wasn’t just a silly and sweet ingenue,” Wells wrote in her book. “She was bright, fair-minded and reasonable, and I like to think that’s what I brought to her. She was a little more of a Goody Two-shoes than I am.”

Sen. Josh Hawley To Object To Electoral College Certification Process On January 6

Republican Missouri Sen. Josh Hawley became the first Senator to say he will object during Congress’s counting of the Electoral College vote on Jan. 6.

Hawley released a statement Wednesday saying he will object during the upcoming Jan. 6 meeting of Congress to count states’ electoral votes and finalize President-elect Joe Biden’s victory over President Donald Trump, citing big-tech platforms interference in the election in support of Biden and saying election laws were broken in Pennsylvania.

“Following both the 2004 and 2016 elections, Democrats in Congress objected during the certification of electoral votes in order to raise concerns about election integrity. They were praised by Democratic leadership and the media when they did. And they were entitled to do so. But now those of us concerned about the integrity of this election are entitled to do the same,” Hawley said in the statement.

Hawley also said Congress should at least be investigating the allegations of voter fraud.

“I cannot vote to certify the electoral college results on January 6 without raising the fact that some states, particularly Pennsylvania, failed to follow their own state election laws. And I cannot vote to certify without pointing out the unprecedented effort of mega corporations, including Facebook and Twitter, to interfere in this election, in support of Joe Biden. At the very least, Congress should investigate allegations of voter fraud and adopt measures to secure the integrity of our elections. But Congress has so far failed to act,” Hawley continued.

“For these reasons, I will follow the same practice Democrat members of Congress have in years past and object during the certification process on January 6 to raise these critical issues,” Hawley concluded.

FLASHBACK, JAN. 6 2001… NYT: Over Some Objections, Congress Certifies Electoral Vote

The rancor lingering from the bitterly contested presidential election spilled over during a joint session of Congress today, forcing Vice President Al Gore to gavel down black House members time and again in order to make official the election of his opponent, George W. Bush.

Congressional certification of the Electoral College vote is usually quick and routine. But nothing has been ordinary about the November election that will result in Mr. Bush being sworn in this month as the first president since Benjamin Harrison in 1888 to win the Electoral College but lose the popular vote.

Today, for nearly 20 minutes in the cavernous House chamber, a dozen members of the Congressional Black Caucus, joined by a few sympathizers, tried in vain to block the counting of Florida’s 25 electoral votes, protesting that black voters had been disenfranchised. Florida’s highly contested electoral votes were crucial in Mr. Bush’s victory after a prolonged legal and political battle following an inconclusive election.

FLASHBACK, JAN. 6 2005… CNN: Bush carries Electoral College after delay

The normally perfunctory ceremony of counting and certifying Electoral College votes was delayed for about four hours as Democrats unsuccessfully challenged Ohio’s votes for Bush. […]

Alleging widespread “irregularities” on Election Day, a group of Democrats in Congress objected earlier Thursday to the counting of Ohio’s 20 electoral votes.

The challenge was defeated 267-31 by the House and 74-1 by the Senate, clearing the way for the joint session to count the votes from the remaining states.

FLASHBACK, JAN. 6 2017… CNN: 11 times VP Biden was interrupted during Trump’s electoral vote certification (VIDEO)

Vice President Joe Biden presided over a joint session of Congress Friday, where members officially tallied electoral votes from the 2016 presidential election. President-elect Donald Trump’s 304 electoral votes weren’t counted without incident, however. During the course of the certification, House Democrats tried to object to electoral votes from multiple states, with Biden gaveling them down for failure to follow the rules.

Objections to the votes needed to be in writing and signed by both a member of the House and a member of the Senate. Every House member who rose to object did so without a senator’s signature.

The 2020 presidential election was, in several targeted battleground states, an unconstitutional electoral exercise. Even putting aside evidence of significant fraud, virtually none of which received a hearing by our courts, events leading up to and including the November national election constituted a radical and grave departure from the federal electoral system adopted by the framers of the Constitution and the state ratification conventions. […]

Specifically, Article II, Section 1, Clause 2 of the federal Constitution could not be more explicit. It states, in pertinent part: “Each State shall appoint, in such Manner as the Legislature thereof may direct, a Number of Electors, equal to the whole Number of Senators and Representatives to which the State may be entitled in the Congress …” This language was purposeful. […]

The reason: While rejecting the direct election of a president, the framers concluded that the state legislatures were closest to the people in their respective states and would be the best representatives of their interests. At no time did the framers even raise the possibility that governors, attorneys general, secretaries of state, election boards, administrators, etc., would play any significant role in the electoral process. Indeed, certain of those offices did not even exist. Moreover, as I said, the courts were rejected out of hand. Thus, such an important power was to be exercised exclusively by the state legislatures. […]

‘Coup Attempt’: Klobuchar Goes After Hawley For Objection To Electoral College Certification Process On January 6

Democratic Minnesota Sen. Amy Klobuchar slammed Republican Missouri Sen. Josh Hawley for becoming the first Senator to say he will object during Congress’s counting of the Electoral College vote on Jan. 6, calling it a “coup attempt.”

Klobuchar sent a tweet Wednesday after Hawley’s announcement that he would object during the upcoming Jan. 6 meeting of Congress to count states’ electoral votes and finalize President-elect Joe Biden’s victory over President Donald Trump, saying she will make sure Hawley’s efforts fail on the 6th.

“This is how you run for President on the Republican side in 2024. You join a coup attempt. Democracy will prevail. As lead Dem on Rules Com. I will guarantee it,” Klobuchar said. “There’s a bipartisan group of electeds who will put our country first. See you on the 6th!”

Walmart Called Josh Hawley A ‘Sore Loser’ On Twitter, Then Deleted It

A tweet from the official Walmart Twitter account called Republican Missouri Senator Josh Hawley a “sore loser” Wednesday before being quickly deleted.

Hawley tweeted a statement that he would be objecting to the electoral college certification process in the Senate on Jan. 6. Walmart responded, saying: “Go ahead. Get your 2 hour debate. #SoreLoser.”

Josh Hawley Slams Walmart For Tweet Calling Him A ‘Sore Loser’

“Thanks ⁦@Walmart for your insulting condescension,” the senator wrote on Twitter. “Now that you’ve insulted 75 million Americans, will you at least apologize for using slave labor?”

“Or maybe you’d like to apologize for the pathetic wages you pay your workers as you drive mom and pop stores out of business,” Hawley added.

Walmart apologized for the tweet in a statement.

“The tweet was mistakenly posted by a member of our social media team who intended to publish this comment to their personal account,” the company told the Daily Caller. “We have removed the post and have no intention of commenting on the subject of certifying the electoral college. We apologize to Senator Hawley for this error and any confusion about our position.”

AXIOS: Scoop: Trump administration declassifies unconfirmed intel on Chinese bounties

The Trump administration is declassifying as-yet uncorroborated intelligence, recently briefed to President Trump, that indicates China offered to pay non-state actors in Afghanistan to attack American soldiers, two senior administration officials tell Axios.

The big picture: The disclosure of this unconfirmed intelligence comes 21 days before the end of Trump’s presidency, after he has vowed to ratchet up pressure on China, and months after news reports indicated that the Russians had secretly offered bounties for Taliban militants to kill U.S. troops in Afghanistan. […]

Don’t forget: Trump received heavy criticism earlier this year when he admitted he had not addressed with Vladimir Putin the unconfirmed intelligence reports that Russia had been offering bribes to the Taliban to kill American soldiers.

COMMUNIST CHINESE GOVERNMENT ARRESTS CATHOLIC NUNS IN HONG KONG… REUTERS: Nuns arrested as Beijing turns up heat on Church in Hong Kong

HONG KONG (Reuters) – In a high-walled Art Deco villa in the Hong Kong suburbs of Kowloon, the Vatican operates an unofficial diplomatic mission, its only political outpost of any kind in China.

The mission keeps such a low profile that it isn’t listed in the Roman Catholic Church’s formal directory of every priest and property in the city. The two monsignors who staff the outpost have no formal standing with Beijing or the Hong Kong government, and they don’t conduct official work, not even meeting Hong Kong officials. The tenuous foothold is a sign of the delicate position in China of the world’s largest Christian denomination, many of whose members in Hong Kong staunchly support the city’s democracy movement.

And now the mission – and the Church as a whole in Hong Kong – is coming under mounting pressure as Beijing moves to extinguish opposition voices in the city under a new national security law.

Nashville Bomber’s Girlfriend Told Police He ‘Was Building Bombs In The RV Trailer’ Over One Year Ago

Police visited Nashville bomber Anthony Warner’s home over one year ago after his girlfriend said he was building bombs in the RV, documents show.

Warner blew up a city block in downtown Nashville, Tennessee, early Christmas morning, police said. He died in the explosion and the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation declared that he wasn’t on their “radar” before the incident.

However, an August 2019 report from the Metro Nashville Police Department (MNPD) shows that his ex-girlfriend Pamela Perry made authorities aware of alleged bomb-making over a year earlier, The Tennessean reported.

Perry informed police that Warner “was building bombs in the RV trailer at his residence” on Aug. 21, 2019, a report from MNPD indicates.

REPORT: CNN Journalist Chris Cuomo Gets Caught Admiring His Muscles In Mirrored Elevator Walls

Journalist Chris Cuomo was reportedly caught admiring his muscles in an elevator by a couple of neighbors.

The insider told the outlet that Cuomo didn’t even notice that the other people in the elevator were staring at him as he admired his muscles.

GET EXCITED… KAREN TOWNSEND: Joe And Jill Biden To Offer New Year’s Eve Message With Ryan Seacrest

Joe and Jill Biden are going to deliver an “inspiring” message to welcome in the new year tomorrow night. The word is out that they will appear on ‘”Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest 2021″. Seacrest is hosting for his 16th year in New York while another host will broadcast from Los Angeles.

There won’t be the usual crowds in Times Square and the ball drop will be virtual this year because of coronavirus restrictions. It’s not clear if Joe and Jill will physically be with Seacrest in New York or if they will be delivering a virtual New Year’s Eve message. Maybe they can do it from a car on the street and honk afterward like his supporters do during his rallies. Will Joe Biden even be awake for a closing message? The broadcast is scheduled to continue until 2:00 a.m. Eastern time. No one thinks Joe is awake at that hour unless he’s up to go to the bathroom. I’m guessing he’ll speak during the earlier hours for a larger audience.
