Trump Or McConnell: Who Will Lead The GOP Forward In 2021?

After managing an effective working relationship for the last four years, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and President Donald Trump have butted heads multiple times down the stretch of 2020 and into the start of 2021 as the latter prepares to leave office. 

Since the Nov. 3 election, Trump and McConnell have taken conflicting stances on a multitude of issues, including claims of election fraud, the passage of the National Defense Authorization Act and $2,000 stimulus checks. With the Republican Party assuming a new role as the opposition to President-elect Joe Biden, GOP lawmakers won’t have as clear a de facto leader as they did with Trump running the executive branch.
