Big Tech moved quickly to deplatform President Donald Trump and many of his supporters following the Wednesday riot at the U.S. Capitol.

Facebook and Twitter first issued temporary suspensions of Trump’s social media activity before permanently banning his accounts. Twitter announced in a blog post Tuesday it had removed more than 70,000 accounts it had associated with the QAnon conspiracy, but some conservative users noted their accounts were losing much larger quantities of followers.
