Just two months after President Donald Trump lost the state of Georgia in his bid for reelection, Republicans lost there once again — this time in a battle to keep control of the United States Senate.
The defeat of Republican Sens. Kelly Loeffler and David Perdue on Jan. 5 granted Democrats control of the White House, the House of Representatives and the Senate. Republicans controlled all three just a couple of years prior as they headed into the 2018 midterm elections.
