Partly due to a radical shift within Western academia in the late 20th century and partly as a result of such endeavors as the 1619 Project, critical race theory has found a home in almost all facets of the American education system, including K-12 schools.

The integration of critical race theory into school curriculums over the past few years has produced such occurrences as elementary school children being taught about “social identities in math class and classes conducting exercises in identity politics designed to separate and isolate “white, middle class, cisgender, educated, able-bodied, Christian, English speaker[s]” from their peers because they supposedly hold “privilege and power.”
