Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes might be back on the field much quicker than initially anticipated.

During the Sunday win over the Browns, Mahomes went down with what looked like a serious head injury, which would put his status for the game against the Bills up in the air. (RELATED: David Hookstead Is The True King In The North When It Comes To College Football)

Well, Mahomes might not actually have a head injury at all. According to Carrington Harrison, a source of his told him it’s actually an issue with a nerve in Mahomes’ neck.

The star passer reportedly cleared his tests Sunday and will have further testing done Monday.

Well, this certainly changes absolutely everything with the upcoming game between the Bills and Chiefs.

When Mahomes went down Sunday, I think we all thought he had a head injury. Hell, the Chiefs initially even said he was being evaluated for a concussion.

Now, it sounds like it’s possibly a nerve issue. While I’m far from a medical expert, you have to think this is good news for everyone involved.

Concussion protocol is no joke, and it’s not like you can just opt out of it. If Mahomes isn’t in the protocol, then it would seem to indicate there’s a much better chance he plays Sunday.

Keep checking back for the latest updates as we have them! Mahomes’ health is without question the biggest storyline in the playoffs right now.
