Pro gamer ZooMaa’s career has come to an unfortunate end.

The “Call of Duty” star, whose real name is Thomas Paparatto, recently announced that he’s unplugging his controller for good due to a thumb/wrist injury that has returned. (RELATED: David Hookstead Is The True King In The North When It Comes To College Football)

He wrote the following in part in his retirement announcement:

Playing through the weakness and pain in my hand just isn’t possible anymore. I don’t enjoy competing when I can’t be the ZooMaa everyone knows and loves and feel like it’s not fair to myself or to my team to go through all that again, potentially causing more damage to my hand. It breaks my heart to step away from a game I put my heart and soul into every single day for eight years. Tearing up just writing this, but I don’t know what else to do at this point. It’s been an amazing run… I don’t regret anything and I am grateful to have had a long playing career doing what I love to do at such a high level.

I hate to sound mean here, but I encourage you all to read his full statement because it’s one of the most absurd things I’ve ever seen.

ZooMaa talks like he’s out here winning Super Bowls, and after playing several seasons without his ACLs has decided to call it quits.

You’ll have to excuse me if I’m not shedding tears as if this is some great athlete walking off the field one final time.

It’s a damn video game. Put your controller down, meet some women and have yourself a good life.

Also, it’s not like ZooMaa is losing out on a bunch of cash. Since 2014, he’s reportedly made under $400,000 in total career earnings! Imagine if a minor league baseball player or a WNBA athlete wrote a retirement announcement as cringe as this one.

We’d roast the hell out of it for days. Dude, it’s your thumb! Go get a job and make some money! Your life isn’t over!

I’m sorry, but I just can’t get over it. It reads like a note somebody might write on their deathbed. It’s truly unreal.

Somebody go find a medal because this hero truly deserves a proper send-off after such an awesome career playing video games.
