Two House Republicans have grabbed headlines in recent weeks for acting out of step with other members of their party, but the respective postures and constituencies of Wyoming Rep. Liz Cheney and Georgia Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene couldn’t be more dissimilar.
Greene and Cheney have both faced disciplinary action for very different reasons, and from very different groups: Greene for her past advocacy for unfounded and occasionally bizarre conspiracy theories, and Cheney for voting to impeach former President Donald Trump. The reaction within Republican and conservative circles to both of them could be a tell for where the party is headed in 2024.
