Parents Are Pulling Kids From Public Schools Thanks To Teachers Unions. Now They’re Getting A Religious Education

In some of the nation’s largest school districts, parents are fleeing public schools that remain closed and putting their kids in religious private schools or other learning programs.

Despite the fact that research from Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) doctors suggest that classrooms do not pose a major health risk to either the teacher or their pupils, teachers unions have used returning to classrooms during the COVID-19 pandemic as leverage for union negotiations to receive higher pay or work fewer hours. As some public schools approach a full calendar year of closures, parents are taking their children out of public schools, and putting them into religious schools or other learning programs. Catholic schools, hit particularly hard during the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic, are now becoming the epicenter of in-person learning, as a Wall Street Journal opinion recently noted.
