Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s sit-down interview Sunday with Oprah Winfrey might be exactly what the United States needed to destroy the British monarchy forever.

Markle and Prince Harry dropped massive bombshells during the interview with Winfrey, although it remains unclear if any of it is actually true. If what Markle and Prince Harry are saying is valid, the British monarchy is now facing some intense allegations.

Markle essentially accused someone in the royal family of being a racist, but refused to mention them by name. In fact, Prince Harry said he would never reveal who this person was. The family member in question allegedly raised concerns over the color of baby Archie’s skin tone in “several conversations” with Prince Harry, the couple told Winfrey.

Since the royal couple didn’t name anyone, everyone has now deemed the entire monarchy racist. To combat this, Winfrey made a statement on “CBS This Morning” ruling out Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip from the list of suspects. However, it seems like the damage might already be done considering #AbolishTheMonarchy was trending on Twitter following the release of the interview. Markle also insinuated that her time as part of the royal family led to her having suicidal thoughts. The Duchess of Sussex claimed she faced a “character assassination” from the British media with almost no protection from the royal family.

“Look, I was really ashamed to say it at the time and ashamed to have to admit it to Harry especially, because I know how much loss he suffered, but I knew that if I didn’t say it, then I would do it,” Markle said alongside Prince Harry. “I just didn’t want to be alive anymore.”

Markle seemingly implied that the other royals did not defend the couple from the British media in order to protect other members of the family.

“I came to understand that, not only was I not being protected, but that they were willing to lie to protect other members of the family, but they weren’t willing to tell the truth to protect me and my husband,” Markle said during the interview.

Markle might have an actual shot at bringing down the monarchy. She accused the royal family of the two biggest no-no’s in 2021 — racism and not taking mental health seriously.

Let’s be real. If you aren’t taking those two issues seriously in 2021, you are bound to be cancelled, even if you were ignorant and didn’t understand what you were doing.

It’ll be interesting to see if we see a formal response from Buckingham Palace. Queen Elizabeth II has been quiet on this matter, although she did release a video about unity ahead of Sunday’s interview.

Seems like it didn’t do much.

If the British monarchy wants to remain in power, seems like they’ll have to do a lot more damage control than that.
