Prince Harry discussed in an interview Sunday how he and his wife Meghan Markle are supporting themselves financially, now that they’ve stepped back from being directly involved in royal duties.
Harry and Meghan, also known as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, relocated to Santa Barbara, California, after breaking away from the British royal family. Harry revealed in a recent interview with Oprah Winfrey that they are now living off inheritance that Harry’s mother Princess Diana left him, according to The Independent.
“I think she saw it coming,” Prince Harry noted about the couple’s decision to step back from their royal duties.

“I have what my mum left me and without that we wouldn’t have been able to do this,” Harry explained.
Harry’s mother Diana, the Princess of Wales, died in a car crash in 1997. She left her two sons Prince William and Harry roughly £6.5 million ($8.9 million) in inheritance, along with other valuables, The Independent reported. “My biggest concern was history repeating itself,” Harry explained, opening up about his decision to relocate to the United States.
“I’ve seen what happens when someone I love is commoditised to the point that they are no longer treated or seen as a real person,” the duke said. “I lost my mother and now I watch my wife falling victim to the same powerful forces.”
Harry and Meghan announced via an Instagram post in January 2020 that they would be stepping down from their royal duties as senior members of the royal family in an effort to seek a more independent lifestyle.
Meghan has recently come under attack after aides to the royal family alleged there had been bullying complaints filed against the duchess.
