Meghan Markle reportedly filed a formal complaint to ITV after Piers Morgan accused her of lying about being suicidal Monday on “Good Morning Britain.”

Markle wasn’t upset by Morgan’s comments, but was instead worried about how the broadcaster comments would affect other people dealing with mental health issues, the Daily Mail reported Wednesday.

Morgan continued to defend his comments while speaking with reporters Wednesday. Morgan quit “Good Morning Britain” on Tuesday after he was told to apologize to Markle, the outlet reported.  (RELATED: ‘Spend More Time With My Opinions’: Piers Morgan Says He Still Doesn’t Believe Meghan Markle After Leaving Show)

“If I have to fall on my sword for expressing an honestly held opinion about Meghan Markle and that diatribe of bilge that she came out with in that interview, so be it,” Morgan said, according to the Daily Mail.

Markle reportedly filed her complaint directly to ITV’s CEO Dame Carolyn McCall.

Morgan, a frequent critic of Markle, also slammed Markle in his column for the Daily Mail. The British commentator referred to the televised interview as the “acting performance” of Markle’s life, thereby implying she was untruthful during the interview.

“This was the acting performance of her life, with every word, every facial expression carefully planned and choreographed,” Morgan wrote. “In fact, if it’s not late, someone should nominate it for the Oscars.”

The royal couple dropped bombshells during the sit-down interview Sunday, accusing the palace of racism. Prince Harry also claimed his father and brother are “trapped” within the royal family.

Markle also opened up about her mental health struggles. She even revealed she was once suicidal.

“Look, I was really ashamed to say it at the time and ashamed to have to admit it to Harry especially, because I know how much loss he suffered, but I knew that if I didn’t say it, then I would do it,” Markle said alongside Prince Harry. “I just didn’t want to be alive anymore.”
