The Academy of Country Music Awards announced Thursday musicians Keith Urban and Mickey Guyton will be the hosts for the upcoming show.

Keith Urban, 53, is an Australian singer and producer, who began his pathway to country stardom back in the 90s. Mickey Guyton, 37, is also a country singer, and is known for incorporating pop and contemporary beats into her music.

The the ACM also revealed the show will air on April 18 from three separate venues in Nashville. It was unclear if Guyton and Urban will be hosting from the same venue.

Guyton’s prospective role in this year’s show made her the first black woman to host the ACM Awards.

“Over the years, the Academy of Country Music has always been a home for me through opportunities both onstage and throughout their work on diversity and inclusion,” Guyton said in a statement, according to Fox News. “This is a moment of great significance for me and I am so thrilled to share it with all the fans.” (RELATED: Here Are The Country Artists Nominated For ACM Awards)

Urban emphasized his excitement to host alongside Guyton in a statement, Fox reported.

“I’m beyond thrilled to be co-hosting with my friend Mickey [Guyton],” Urban said in a statement. “I love that finally everyone will get to see her infectious energy and uber creative spirit in full light.”

The ACM Awards recently revealed the nominations. Unfortunately, there were no female artists nominated for Entertainer of the Year. Last year, Carrie Underwood and Thomas Rhett were tied for the award. I’d love to see more female country artists get the recognition they deserve.

We don’t typically get to hear female country artists on the radio, as Shania Twain pointed out in 2020.
