Republican South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham called out Democratic New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez for not going to the border to demand access to facilities temporarily housing migrant children, as she did under President Donald Trump.

During a Wednesday press conference, Graham slammed “open border” Democrats for not going to the border to examine what is being reported, something she did under Trump and said that she saw migrants “drinking out of toilets” inside the facilities and “officers laughing in front of members Congress.”

“Where is AOC? Why aren’t you at the border looking at the things being reported? If you were worried about children under Trump being in bad conditions, this is worse,” Graham said.

Ocasio-Cortez has not yet commented on the border crisis under President Biden, which Graham called out in his press conference. On her trip in July 2019, Ocasio-Cortez reportedly screamed at federal law enforcement officers while visiting the U.S.-Mexico border and said migrant women were forced to drink toilet water. “Most Republicans want to make sure we deal fairly with those who have been here a long time but we address the underlying problems of illegal immigration … that’s not an unreasonable request. There used to be democrats that understood to get legalization on the table you had to address the underlying causes of illegal immigration .. those voices have been silenced. The open-borders crowd is now firmly in control of immigration,” Graham said at the press conference.

“If you’re worried about people having COVID outbreaks, this is the biggest COVID spreader in the entire country..so where are you?” he added. (RELATED: Biden Admin To Allow One TV Camera Into Child Migrant Holding Facility In Texas)

Meanwhile, Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi said Friday that Biden’s administration has the crisis at the border under control as thousands of illegal immigrants have crossed the border during his first six weeks on the job.
