Evan Peters will reportedly play infamous serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer in an upcoming TV series.

According to Variety, Peters will play the killer in Ryan Murphy’s upcoming Netflix series “Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story.” (REVIEW: ‘Westworld’ Season 3 Ends With The Possible Deaths Of Multiple Characters)

Variety wrote the following details about the project:

“Monster” tells the story of Dahmer through the eyes of his victims, and examines Dahmer’s white privilege and the law enforcement involved with a critical lens, depicting at least 10 times that Dahmer was apprehended by police but not prosecuted.

There’s two points I want to make here. Historically speaking, Peters and Murphy have had a lot of success together.

Peters has been in several seasons of “American Horror Story,” and “AHS” has turned into one of FX’s biggest hits.

In fact, I’d argue “AHS” is probably Murphy’s greatest success story.

Secondly, and more importantly, the story of Dahmer is way too interesting to ruin with a political lecture about “white privilege” and other ideas.

The man slaughtered people and ate them. He’s one of the most monstrous Americans to ever live. The story by itself is fascinating and engaging.

If Murphy tries to turn it into some saga about how Dahmer got away with it all because he was white and the show is a race debate, then people will tune out.

Let’s hope Murphy keeps the preaching to a minimum. Fans don’t want to waste our time with it. We want to be entertained.
