President Joe Biden has called for a ban on so-called assault weapons and high capacity magazines and has insinuated he may take executive action to get gun control passed. But even if the president runs into roadblocks with Congress, there’s still one more way to fundamentally change gun laws in America: through the Supreme Court.

“I don’t need to wait another minute, let alone, an hour, to take common sense steps, that will save lives in the future and urge my colleagues in the House and Senate to act,” Biden said following the Boulder, Colorado, mass shooting. “We can ban assault weapons and high capacity magazines in this country once again.”
