The TV ratings for the Sweet 16 were absolutely gigantic.

March Madness TV tweeted Tuesday morning that viewership for the Sweet 16 Saturday and Sunday on CBS hit a 28-year high. (RELATED: David Hookstead Is The True King In The North When It Comes To College Football)

The games averaged 12.9 million viewers. That’s a 12% bump from the 2019 numbers.

Social media engagement is also up 31% from 2019. To put it as simply as possible, business is booming right now.

Do we think people missed sports or do we think people missed sports during the coronavirus pandemic? We didn’t get the NCAA Tournament in 2020, and people are clearly trying to make up for lost time.

Hitting a 28-year high for NCAA Tournament Sweet 16 ratings is music to my ears.

The games weren’t just popular by a little bit. Viewership was up 12% from 2019. In the world of TV that’s a gigantic jump.

Clearly, people are starving for as much March Madness content as possible.

I have a feeling the ratings for the Final Four are going to be through the roof. I know I’ve said it before, but it’s worth repeating. All signs are pointing towards monster ratings.
