BIDEN LAUNCHES FACT-FREE BLITZ ON GUNS… No amendment to the Constitution is absolute. You can’t yell ‘fire’ in a crowded movie theater and call it freedom of speech. From the beginning, you couldn’t own any weapon you wanted to own.”

DAVID HARSANYI: Joe Biden’s Amazing Second Amendment Whopper

“Nothing I’m about to recommend in any way impinges on the Second Amendment,” Biden said. “They’re phony arguments suggesting that these are Second Amendment rights in what we’re talking about.”

Biden added that “no amendment to the Constitution is absolute. You can’t yell ‘fire’ in a crowded movie theater and call it freedom of speech. From the very beginning, you couldn’t own any weapon you wanted to own. From the very beginning of the Second Amendment existed, certain people weren’t allowed to have weapons.”

Every part of his statement is utterly absurd. […]

“You can’t yell “fire” in a crowded movie theater and call it freedom of speech.”

You absolutely can. This is probably the weakest – and the most infuriatingly overused — analogy used in efforts to restrict rights. The line, taken from Oliver Wendell Holmes’ decision in Schenck v. United States and subsequently repeated by thousands of censorship apologists since, was at the heart of one of the most egregious violations of free expression in American history.

BIDEN: You go to a gun show, you can buy whatever you want–no background check.” (VIDEO)

Biden Falsely Claims That At A Gun Show ‘You Can Buy Whatever You Want — No Background Check’

Biden said background checks aren’t required for firearm purchases at gun shows during his remarks at the White House Thursday. However, federal law already mandates firearm dealers to initiate a background check on prospective buyers at stores, gun shows or anywhere a transaction may occur, according to the National Rifle Association Institute for Legislative Action.

“Most people don’t know that you walk into a store and buy a gun, you have a background check,” Biden said during the ceremony Thursday, in which he announced a slew of executive actions on gun violence. “But, you go to a gun show, you can buy whatever you want — no background check.”

The Brady Handgun Violence Prevention Act of 1993 established the National Instant Criminal Background Check System, which is maintained by the FBI and is able to determine a person’s criminal history. The legislation requires licensed firearm sellers to conduct a background check through the system before every sale.

Some gun control experts, though, suggest that while there is no gun show loophole, there is a private sale loophole, according to Politifact. Federal law requires all licensed firearm sellers to conduct a background check, leaving way for unlicensed firearm sellers to sell guns without conducting a background check.

“There is a huge loophole in federal law, but it isn’t for gun shows,” UCLA law professor Adam Winkler told Politifact in 2016. “What is called the gun-show loophole is misnamed. It should be the ‘private sale loophole’ or the ‘background check loophole.’”

Like Tiger King’: Biden’s ATF Pick Mocked First-Time Gun Buyers In An Interview Last Year (VIDEO)

[David] Chipman said in the interview that he understood the pandemic-induced anxiety that led to a spike in gun sales. But he worried that purchasers were making “rash decisions” that could put them at risk.

“Most of the new buyers who went out to the gun store and bought a gun have no training whatsoever,” Chipman said in an interview with Cheddar that aired on April 3, 2020.

“In their mind they might be competent, they might think they’re die-hard and ready to go, but unfortunately they’re more like Tiger King. They’re putting themselves and their families in danger.”

Chipman then compared the new gun purchasers to people in fear of an attack by zombies.

“What I would suggest,” said Chipman, “if they did go out and buy a gun, I would secure that gun locked and unloaded and hide it behind the cans of tuna and beef jerky that you’ve stored in the cabinet, and only bring that out if the zombies start to appear.”

“I don’t think they are,” he added.

WHO NEEDS CONGRESS? White House Dodges When Asked If The Senate Will Actually Pass Background Check Legislation (VIDEO)

White House press secretary Jen Psaki didn’t directly answer a question Thursday about whether the administration believes Congress will actually pass legislation expanding federal background checks for firearm purchases.

Two recent bills on the topic passed the House in March but have since stalled in the Senate.

Psaki, speaking shortly after President Joe Biden announced a host of executive actions aimed at curtailing gun violence in the country, told CBS’ Ed O’Keefe “the president is going to lead the analysis of what is viable and doable to all of you and certainly” but added that “he is not vote counting himself.”

FOX: Tucker Carlson: Biden wants to take your guns, but leave criminals with theirs (VIDEO)

Here are the numbers: According to the most recent data from the FBI, firearms were involved in a total of 10,258 homicides in 2019, the last year for which data is available. Fewer than 500 out of more than 10,000 of those homicides were committed with rifles, including so-called weapons of war. So criminals don’t use rifles. They’re not concealable. Maybe that’s why, in fact, more people were murdered with knives than with rifles.

So if you actually cared about making the country safer and keeping people from getting murdered, you would target handguns in big cities. That’s where the murders are. That’s where the violence is. But the Biden administration is doing the opposite of this, the mirror image of this. The Biden administration is letting big city criminals go. People who use guns for violence are walking out of jail. And instead, the Biden administration is using the full force of government to disarm peaceful voters in zip codes that voted for Donald Trump. It is that simple.

Thursday, Biden announced that he wants to ban what he called “assault weapons.” He was speaking about the AR 15, the single most popular sporting rifle in America. So the question is: If we banned so-called assault weapons, would the country become safer? We don’t need to guess about the answer because we tried this before under Bill Clinton. For ten full years, we banned assault rifles and then, by law, the Department of Justice studied the effects. Once that ban expired in 2004, gun homicides fell in almost every major city (again, you can look this up). So policies like this one are unhinged from reality, to put it gently.

Of the nearly 40,000 deaths involving guns in 2019, well under 1 percent were caused by what the F.B.I. defines as “active shooter” incidents. In an average year, around 60 percent of deaths involving guns are suicides and upward of 30 percent are homicides that don’t meet the “active shooter” definition, like episodes of domestic and gang violence. Even unintentional shootings (about 1 percent of the total) outnumber mass shootings.

There are far more effective means to prevent these sadly routine tragedies than by focusing on assault weapons. And that means that it is both wrong and counterproductive for advocacy organizations and elected leaders to use the moments when the public is focused on gun control to push an assault weapons ban.

Don’t get me wrong. I don’t disagree with the intent of an assault weapons ban. I led the organization that before my tenure as president helped to pass the 1994 federal ban on assault weapons that expired in 2004, and I believe there is no place in civilized society for guns that are made for the express purpose of killing people.

But the fact is that if one were to objectively list solutions based purely on how much they would lower the number of gun deaths in our country, an assault weapons ban would not be high on the list. […]

The most meaningful way to deal with the problem, though, is not to look at how to keep certain guns from all people, but how to keep all guns from certain people — the people almost all of us agree should not have guns.

I have spent the past two years building relationships with leaders in the gun rights community, and have found that this framing leads us to common ground.

CRUSH AT THE BORDER… Over 172,000 Migrants Encountered At The Southern Border In March

More than 172,000 migrants were encountered at the southern border in March, according to Customs and Border Protection.

Officials apprehended nearly 19,000 unaccompanied migrant minors, around 53,600 family units and over 99,000 single adults, according to Customs and Border Protection (CBP). Encounters were up 71% in March from February.

“CBP has experienced an increase in encounters and arrests. This is not new,” CBP Acting Commissioner Troy Miller said in a statement Thursday.

“Encounters have continued to increase since April 2020, and our past experiences have helped us be better prepared for the challenges we face this year,” Miller said. “We are committed to balancing the need to maintain border security, care for those in our custody, and keep the American people and our workforce safe.”

Officials encountered 17,106 migrants in April 2020, according to CBP. The agency encountered over 70,000 migrants every month from October through January 2020 and more than 100,000 migrants alone in February and March 2021.

LITERALLY OFF THE CHARTS… Washington Post, Biden Claimed Early On The Migrant ‘Surge’ Was Just Seasonal. The Numbers For March Are Anything But Seasonal

President Joe Biden, along with The Washington Post, claimed the migrant “surge” happening at the border was seasonal. Data from March, however, tells a very different story.

The Post published an analysis piece on March 25 declaring that “the migrant ‘surge’ at the U.S. southern border is actually a predictable pattern.” Similarly, Biden said in March that the ongoing surge happens “every single solitary year” and joked that it’s not happening because he’s “a nice guy.”

“Evidence reveals the usual seasonal bump — plus some of the people who waited during the pandemic,” The Post noted in its piece from March.

“Underappreciated in the developing narrative is just how predictable the rise in border crossings is,” the analysis article continued. “We analyzed monthly U.S. Customs and Border Protection data from 2012 through February and found no clear evidence that the overall increase in border crossings in 2021 can be attributed to Biden administration policies. Rather, the current increase fits a pattern of seasonal changes in undocumented immigration combined with a backlog of demand because of 2020s coronavirus border closure.”

The Post article conceded that the influx of unaccompanied minors crossing the border “appears to be more than just a seasonal pattern” but even then speculated that there could “be a similar drop in crossings by minors during the summer months.” The analysis piece was based off of data that CBP had made available as of March 25.

New data is blowing the lid off of these claims – though others pushed back on the idea that the “surge” is normal prior to this most recent information. The new data, published by Customs and Border Protection (CBP), indicates a whopping 172,331 individuals were encountered at the southern border in March.

This is the most in almost two decades, according to The Post’s Nick Miroff.

“CBP had to redo it[s] chart to stretch the Y axis,” he added.

MINOR DETENTION RUNS TAXPAYERS $60 MILLION PER WEEK… NICK MIROFF: SCOOP: HHS appears to be spending ~ $60 million per week to care for the 16,000+ unaccompanied minors currently in its network of permanent and temporary shelters, based on latest data obtained by WP (LINK)

But after a sweeping move by lawmakers this week, New York will now offer one-time payments of up to $15,600 to undocumented immigrants who lost work during the pandemic. The effort — a $2.1 billion fund in the state budget — is by far the biggest of its kind in the country and a sign of the state’s shift toward policies championed by progressive Democrats.[…]

Undocumented workers could receive up to $15,600, the equivalent of $300 per week for the last year, if they can verify that they were state residents, ineligible for federal unemployment benefits and lost income as a result of the pandemic.

Others who can prove at least their residency and identity, and provide some work documentation, could be eligible for a lower sum up to $3,200.[…]

The state also passed tax increases on the wealthy, meaning New York City millionaires would soon pay the highest personal income taxes in the nation.

“Democrats are raising taxes and using your federal stimulus dollars to enact a radical agenda rather than helping veterans, small main street businesses, teachers and senior citizens,” said Rob Ortt, the Republican minority leader in the State Senate.

MICHELE PEREZ EXNER: Under the latest $1.9 trillion “Covid” spending bill passed by Congressional Democrats, NY received $100 billion of federal funds, nearly a third of all funding for state/local governments. Taxpayers across the country funded NY’s $15,600 checks for illegal immigrants.

Americans have received three tranches of stimulus checks over the past year, amounting to $1200, $600, and $1400 per person earning below $200K in 2019. That’s a total of $3200 in individual benefits paid out by the federal government. New York plans on paying out five times that amount to illegal immigrants as a cash bonus.

TRUST IN MEDIA PLUMMETING… POLL: Nearly Half Of Americans Do Not Trust Media Due To Bias

48% of Americans do not trust any media sources to deliver them unbiased news, according to a new poll.

That number is up ten percentage points from the end of 2020, according to Civic Science. Civic Science polled 331,665 Americans between Jan. 1 and March 31.

Conservatives are more likely than liberals to be concerned about media bias and misinformation, according to the poll. 82% of conservatives describe themselves as very concerned about misinformation, compared to only 49% of liberals. Younger people are also less likely than older people to have a trusted news source.

China Attacks WHO Advisory Member For Highlighting Alleged Errors In COVID Origins Report

The Chinese Foreign Ministry attacked a World Health Organization advisory committee member by name for publishing an open letter Wednesday claiming the WHO’s COVID-19 origins report was riddled with factual errors.

The letter, co-organized by WHO advisory member Jamie Metzl and signed by 23 other scientists, highlighted 12 incorrect, disputed, contradictory and imprecise statements in the WHO’s joint report with China on the origins of the pandemic which downplayed the theory that COVID-19 could have escaped from a lab in Wuhan, China.

“This reminds me of the previous so-called ‘open letter of scientists’ that came out on March 4. It was also drafted by Jamie Metzl, a former member of the White House National Security Council and signed by almost the same group of people,” Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Zhao Lijian said Thursday. “The purpose of these two so-called open letters, one issued right before the WHO joint study report was to be made public and the other shortly after the report was released, is obviously to mount pressure on the WHO and the joint mission.”

JAMIE METZL: Rather than addressing the substantive issues raised in our open letter on #COVID19 origins, the Chinese foreign ministry has chosen to attack me personally, accuse our experts group of smearing #China, & yet again obfuscate & deflect. Truly unfortunate.

Trump Calls Arkansas Gov. Hutchinson ‘Lightweight RINO’ After Gender Reassignment Bill Veto

Former President Donald Trump criticized Republican Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson for vetoing a bill that would ban youth gender reassignment surgeries in a Thursday statement.

“Asa Hutchinson, the lightweight RINO Governor of Arkansas, just vetoed a Bill that banned the CHEMICAL CASTRATION OF CHILDREN. ‘Bye-bye Asa,’ that’s the end of him!” Trump said in a statement.

“Fortunately for the Great State of Arkansas, Sarah Huckabee Sanders will do a fantastic job as your next Governor!” the former president added.

Hutchinson announced Monday he would veto the bill that would ban gender reassignment surgeries for minors. The act would have prohibited doctors from performing the surgeries.

Hutchinson said the bill was “vast government overreach” and suggested the state should not be involved in every “medical, human, and ethical issue.”

TRUMP ENDORSES RAND… ‘He Fights Against The Swamp’: Trump Endorses ‘True Champion’ Sen. Rand Paul

Former President Donald Trump endorsed Republican Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul Thursday for Senate in 2022.

Trump released a statement from the Save America PAC in which the former president said he fully endorses Paul and highlighted issues he believes the Kentucky Republican has been strong on throughout his time in the Senate.

“Rand Paul has done a fantastic job for our Country, and for the incredible people of Kentucky. He fights against the Swamp in Washington, the Radical Left Liberals, and especially the destructive RINOS, of which there are far too many, in Congress. Rand will continue to stand up for our great AMERICA FIRST policies because he believes in stopping wasteful spending, defending our Second Amendment rights, and taking care of our Military and our Vets,” Trump said in the statement.

“I am proud to be working with Rand in our battle to Make America Great Again. He has my Complete and Total Endorsement for another term in the U.S. Senate. The Commonwealth of Kentucky has a true champion in Rand Paul,” Trump continued.

NYT: Indicted Matt Gaetz Associate Is Expected to Plead Guilty, Lawyers Say

ORLANDO, Fla. — A former local official in Florida who faces an array of federal charges, including a sex trafficking count, is expected to plead guilty in the coming weeks, a prosecutor and a defense lawyer said on Thursday in an indication that the defendant could cooperate as a key witness against Representative Matt Gaetz, who is under investigation.

A plea by the former elected official, Joel Greenberg, could significantly strengthen the Justice Department’s hand as it investigates Mr. Gaetz and others who met Mr. Greenberg through Florida Republican politics and are being scrutinized on potential sex trafficking violations.

Mr. Greenberg met women through a website that connects people who are willing to go on dates in exchange for gifts and allowances, then introduced them to Mr. Gaetz, who along with Mr. Greenberg had sex with them, people familiar with the matter have said.

Uniquely Situated’: Lawyer For Matt Gaetz Associate Makes Ominous Statement About Possible Plea Deal

When asked whether Greenberg has a “bargaining chip” to use in negotiations with prosecutors in the Gaetz probe, Scheller said only that his client was “uniquely situated” to provide information in any plea agreement.

Matt Gaetz’s Female Staffers Release Statement Defending The Congressman Amid Sexual Allegations Scandal

Republican Florida Rep. Matt Gaetz’s female staffers released a statement Thursday defending their boss after he denied accusations of having a sexual relationship with a 17-year-old girl.

Gaetz’s chief of staff, Jillian Lane Wyant, sent out an email with the statement which defended Gaetz’s behavior and said they have never experienced the Congressman doing anything unprofessional and that they will continue to defend him despite the allegations. The Daily Caller was told the entire office signed the statement, which includes all eight women who work for Gaetz.

“After the shocking allegations last week in the press, we, the women of Congressman Matt Gaetz’s office, feel morally obligated to speak out. During Congressman Gaetz’s time in office, we have been behind the scenes every step of the way. We have staffed his meetings. We have planned his events. We have traveled with him. And we have tracked his schedule,” the statement reads.

The New York Times reported that the Justice Department is investigating whether Gaetz had a sexual relationship with a 17-year-old girl. Gaetz reportedly showedother lawmakers photos and videos of nude women and talked about having sex with them, according to a CNN piece published on April 1. Some of the incidents reportedly happened on the House floor.

VICTORIA TAFT: Officer Chauvin’s Knee Was NOT on George Floyd’s ‘Neck’ and 8 Other Things You Didn’t Know About This Case

1. Chauvin Didn’t Have His Knee on Floyd’s Neck

Midway through the second week of testimony, defense attorney Eric Nelson showed video from police body-worn cameras from a different angle showing Derek Chauvin’s knee was on Floyd’s shoulder and upper back, not his neck. Prosecutors immediately began changing their verbiage from “neck” to “neck area” […]

6. George Floyd Was With His Drug Dealer When Cops Came

George Floyd was sitting in a Mercedes SUV with his reputed drug dealer. Testimony shows that Morries Hall first tried to use fake $20 bills at the local store, and when that didn’t work, sent Floyd inside to use them. It’s entirely possible that Hall urged Floyd to eat the drugs to hide the evidence, which would have sent the dealer to a much longer jail sentence. Indeed, audio from a police video was introduced into court that seems to show Floyd telling cops “I ate too many drugs,” though prosecutors believe he told police “I ain’t doing no drugs.” […]

9. The Hostile Crowd Could Have Contributed to Floyd’s Death

Testimony in cross-examination of the prosecution’s medical care training expert, Nicole MacKenzie, revealed that the hostile crowd could have contributed to Floyd’s death. How? Due to the hostility, threats, and the possibility that the crowd could get violent, the Minneapolis officers had to “load and scoot” Floyd to get to a safe area where they would meet paramedics and treat him. Paramedics arrived at the previous location and had to find where Floyd had been moved to, burning up a crucial eleven minutes.

ANOTHER RACE HOAX ON COLLEGE CAMPUS… MLIVE: Student responsible for racist graffiti that was found in Albion College dorm, officials say

Albion College and the Albion Department of Public Safety say a student is responsible for racist graffiti found in a dorm last weekend.

Albion police brought the 21-year-old Black male in for questioning on April 6, according to Chief Scott Kipp. The student admitted to creating most of the graffiti, and video evidence from Albion’s Campus Safety Department confirms the statements made by the student, Kipp said.

The student was released after questioning, Kipp said. Once the investigation is complete, the information will be submitted to the Calhoun County Prosecutor’s Office for any charges related to the incident, he said.

The graffiti, which included racist epithets and multiple references to the Klu Klux Klan, was discovered in a stairwell inside Mitchell Towers on Friday, April 2, university officials said. Pictures of the graffiti were posted by City Watch NEWS Group on its Facebook page.

In a series of tweets Wednesday evening, April 7, college officials said the student was acting alone and acknowledged responsibility for the incidents. The student was immediately removed from campus and placed on temporary suspension while the college conducts a full investigation as part of its student judicial process, college officials said.
