A teacher in the United Kingdom was banned from teaching for three years after a misconduct panel reviewed a situation in which he had taken students to a strip club.
55-year-old Richard Glenn, a former computer science teacher from Longridge Towers School and head of the sixth form since 2007 reportedly engaged in inappropriate behavior which included threatening and drunkenly taking students to a strip club while on a school trip to Costa Rica in July 2019, BBC reported.
Glenn’s behavior during the trip included things such as; drinking with students, allowing students to drink alcohol despite being underage, taking students to a strip club, threatening to “kick the head in,” of one student, while threatening to “kill” another student.
Glenn who had also been one of the leaders of the school trip for the 16-to-18-year-olds was sent home after six days due to his “unacceptable” behavior. He was fired in August 2019 after admitting to inappropriate behavior.

The Teaching Regulation Agency noted that Glenn had been “guilty of unacceptable professional conduct,” while on the school trip.
The panel continued on to explain that Glenn had failed to follow “professional boundaries,” in addition to “engaging in conduct which placed pupils in his care at risk,” and that they had found “no evidence,” that his behavior had been “deliberate.” (RELATED: 30-Year-Old Teacher Arrested For Having Sex With 16-Year-Old Student At Least 15 Times)
“Mr Richard Glenn is prohibited from teaching indefinitely and cannot teach in any school, sixth form college, relevant youth accommodation or children’s home in England. He may apply for the prohibition order to be set aside, but not until 16 April 2024, 3 years from the date of this order at the earliest,” the order notes. “This is not an automatic right to have the prohibition order removed. If he does apply, a panel will meet to consider whether the prohibition order should be set aside. Without a successful application, Mr Richard Glenn remains prohibited from teaching indefinitely.”
