Police announced the brother of Chicago Bears running back Tarik Cohen was found dead Sunday at the Duke Power substation.

Tyrell Antar Cohen, 25, was reportedly electrocuted after attempting to climb up part of the equipment at the substation, WRAL reported. Police claimed Tyrell was fleeing law enforcement, according to the outlet.

Tyrell had allegedly been involved in a single-car accident around 2 a.m. Saturday, the outlet reported. Tyrell fled the scene and law enforcement failed to track him down. His family filed a missing persons report when he didn’t return home. (RELATED: NASCAR Driver Eric McClure Dead At 42)

“He entered the substation, which may have been resulting from the accident,” sheriff’s office spokesperson Eric Curry said during a press conference, WRAL reported.

Tarik had posted a tweet asking if anyone had seen his brother on Saturday, News & Observer noted. By Sunday, the tweet had reportedly been deleted.

An unidentified family friend told the outlet that the behavior was out of character for Tyrell.

“All around, he was truly a beautiful person,” the family friend allegedly told WRAL.

“Don’t try to color my boy bad, because he’s not here to defend himself,” the friend reportedly added.

The Chicago Bears team released a statement on Tyrell’s death.

“We are heartbroken to learn of the death of Tarik Cohen’s twin brother, Tyrell,” the statement said.

“Our immediate thoughts and prayers go out to Tarik, his mother, Tilwanda, and the rest of their family and loved ones. On behalf of the entire Bears family, we extend our most heartfelt sympathies to all who mourn his loss.”
