Matthew McConaughey is apparently very serious about exploring a run for Texas governor.

According to Politico, the “True Detective” superstar “has been quietly making calls to influential people in Texas political circles, including a deep-pocketed moderate Republican and energy CEO, to take their temperature on the race and to talk about seriously throwing his hat in the ring.” (RELATED: David Hookstead Is The True King In The North When It Comes To College Football)

Republican strategist Karl Rove told Politico about the situation, “I find it improbable, but it’s not out of the question.”

While I try not to dabble too much in politics, I’d be fascinated by a run for governor by McConaughey.

We’re talking about a Hollywood celebrity from Texas with mass appeal, and he’s not insane. In fact, he’s one of the most centrist celebrities I can ever remember.

In fact, he’s routinely spoken out against cancel culture and the woke mobs that seem to be gaining more and more traction within the country these days.

Will he officially jump into the ring? I have no idea, but I’m here for it. From a pure curiosity standpoint, I kind of hope he does. I’d be very curious to see how it all shakes out.

Also, if you haven’t read his book “Greenlights” yet, I can’t recommend it enough. It’s an awesome book.
