New York Mets outfielder Kevin Pillar was drilled in the face by a pitch Monday night against the Braves.

At the top of the seventh inning, Pillar was at the plate when a pitch from Jacob Webb caught him in the face. (RELATED: David Hookstead Is The True King In The North When It Comes To College Football)

You can watch the incredibly scary moment unfold below.

When it comes to injuries in baseball, getting hammered in the face by a pitch is about as bad as it can get.

Stop and think about the weight of a baseball for a moment. Now, imagine that ball is coming at you with some serious speed and hits you in the face.

Luckily, Pillar was able to leave the field under his own power, which is pretty surprising. I think I’d be dead.

You could also tell from Webb’s reaction that his rogue pitch to Pillar’s face was 100% an accident. He looked absolutely crushed.

It’s hard not to also feel bad for him in this situation.

Fortunately, this situation didn’t go as far south as it could have, and that’s good news for everyone involved.
