Olympian Torah Bright addressed the backlash she received after posting a photo of herself doing a handstand and breastfeeding her son on Instagram.

Bright originally posted the photo May 9 as part of a post celebrating Mother’s Day. The athlete claimed she got a lot of negative and positive responses to the photo.

“I feel so silly even addressing this,” she said in a caption of a video she posted Tuesday. “The photo was just a little bit of pure fun! Celebrating the bond between mother and child. I can understand how it’s not everyone’s taste, that’s fine. But from some of the negative feedback, what has struck me most is how we all, especially mothers need to support and up lift. Not judge a moment in time.”

“Let’s find the village of motherhood to grow and support each other,” she continued.

Bright also addressed the backlash in a since-deleted Instagram story, New York Post reported.

“In my world, mothers should be each other’s cheerleaders (it’s hard enough),” Bright said, according to the outlet. “Embrace our quirkiness and finding the joy in every sh—y thing that is motherhood.”

“We all do it differently,” she reportedly added. “It is not wrong or right. Motherhood is pure. I only now consider myself a Wonder Woman because I have joined the sacred MOTHERS club with you. Nothing but respect to all mothers.”
