ANALYSIS: Police Fear A Particularly Violent Summer As COVID-19 Lockdowns End

Police across the U.S. fear the annual summer uptick in violence will see a drastic boost from the end of coronavirus lockdowns, the Wall Street Journal reported Tuesday.

Violent crimes have seen a rising trend in America’s largest metro areas in recent months. Summertime has always lead to an increase in most crimes as warm weather keeps people outdoors, but there are already early signs that this summer could be an outlier, according to WSJ — and the anticipated increase would come on top of a preexisting spike that accompanied a year of protests and riots.
