Obviously, your heart goes out to both players involved in this situation. Tavares has suffered a serious medical situation after that shot to the head and is now in the hospital.
It really doesn’t get much scarier than hits to the head.

At the same time, that was a 100% accident from Perry. It’s the definition of being in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Tavares hit the ice and Perry just happened to be skating right past him. There wasn’t much he could do. It wasn’t malicious at all, but it doesn’t matter.
Tavares is still in the hospital.
“I tried to jump over him and unfortunately I caught my knee on his head. I don’t know what else to do there…I know Johnny pretty well. I hope he’s OK.” – Corey Perry

Hopefully, Tavares gets better as soon as possible. It’s just an incredibly unfortunate and scary situation.
