Paul Finebaum thinks the Oklahoma Sooners are the team to beat in 2021.

The ESPN star and college football expert recently appeared on the WJOX Roundtable, and said the following when discussing the Sooners being the top dog, according to 247Sports:

I think you have to be (on this bandwagon). And there will be some … pick them No. 1 in the country, and I can see that. There are some faults with Clemson. There are some minor faults with Alabama, Georgia — the obvious fault being Georgia. And Oklahoma, you can’t find any. And the schedule is pretty good. I think their big non-conference game is at home and nobody’s going to get too concerned about Texas anymore.

I hate to rain all over this parade that Finebaum is trying to orchestrate, but this is Oklahoma we’re talking about, folks. (RELATED: David Hookstead Is The True King In The North When It Comes To College Football)

We’re talking about the Sooners. Every year, we see the same movie with them. They enter the season with national title hype, lose a game they probably shouldn’t during the regular season, still win the Big 12, make the playoff and then proceed to get blown out.

You can set your watch to it.

Did everyone forget the 63-28 lashing they took from LSU or the 37-17 butt kicking at the hands of Clemson in the playoff?

They’re literally 0-4 in the CFP. Sure, the Sooners get there, but they don’t win.

Until Oklahoma actually wins a playoff game, we have no reason to believe they’re the team to beat. It’s that simple.
