A missing Idaho dog was found herding a group of sheep two days after he was ejected from a car during a crash, according to a local report.

The incident unfolded around 11:55 a.m., Sunday when Linda Oswald and her family were driving along State Highway 41 with their dog, Tilly, in the back seat, The Spokesman-Review reported. Tilly was ejected from the rear window, which was shattered during the accident, according to the report.

In apparent shock, Tilly bolted across the prairie south of Rathdrum. Oswald and six strangers pulled over when the crash happened immediately and began looking for Tilly.

“People just kept going out,” Oswald reportedly said. “2:30 in the morning some people were out looking for him.” Oswald ended her search Sunday after approximately 10 hours and posted a picture of Tilly on Facebook asking for help to find him, The Spokesman-Review reported.

Oswald said Tilly was “shy” and that she was offering a reward for his return in the Facebook post. (RELATED: Dog Missing For 43 Days Found In Grain Silo, Reunited With Family)

Things turned around Tuesday morning at the Potter family’s farm when Tyler and Travis Potter noticed their shepherd, Hooey, looked different. The boys’ brother Zane said he tried to summon Hooey but the dog “put its ears back and started running off.”

Upon further inspection, Zane realized Hooey was actually Tilly. Travis said some of the family’s sheep had escaped the pasture Tuesday morning and were lingering near the road.

“I think [Tilly] was trying to herd,” Travis reportedly said.

Oswald, however, says Tilly was absolutely trying his hand at herding.

“He’ll herd anything. When I go to the dog park, he tries to herd the people into one group.”

“Good news! Idaho State Police Troopers have learned the dog that ran off after a collision … has been located,” Idaho State Police said in a statement.
