Jenna Bush Hager honored her late grandfather former President George H. W. Bush by jumping out of an airplane just like he used to do for his birthdays.

In the video posted to Twitter and Instagram on Thursday by the “Today” show, the co-host can be seen inside the plane as she talked about sky diving with the U.S. Army Golden Knights, the same team her grandfather jumped with on his birthdays. “Oh god, why’d I say yes to this,” Hager shared to the camera before she jumped out of the plane at 10,000 feet. (RELATED: Here Were George H.W. Bush’s Final Words To His Family)

“We’re doing this for ‘Gampy’ okay,” she added before jumping. As Hager flies through the air, she seems to say, “This is amazing.” At one point, she sounded like she wanted to do some kind of turn before the parachute deployed. (RELATED: Here’s A Look Back At George H.W. Bush’s Life In Pictures)

Once gliding down, the first daughter told crew back at the studio it felt “like floating,” calling it one of the most “exhilarating” and “terrifying” moments of her life.

“It’s peaceful and beautiful right now,” Jenna added. “I feel close to all the people I’ve been missing.”

She ended up then making it to the ground safely with what was later called a “wild landing.” Once she touched down, former First Lady Laura Bush was on the phone with the show  and admitted she was nervous watching her daughter flying through the air.

“It was a great honor to your ‘Gampy,'” former FLOTUS shared as she sounded like she got choked up.

Former President Bush had made a tradition of skydiving later-in-life every year on his birthday.
