A waitress in New Jersey was briefly abducted and left on the side of the road after she attempted to stop a group of diners who left without paying, according to police.
The incident happened at the Nifty Fifties Diner in Washington Township shortly before midnight on Saturday night, the Washington Township Police Department said in a statement posted on Facebook.
A group of five diners who had been dining at the restaurant were allegedly attempting to leave the establishment without paying before the waitress intervened. “The waitress was taken into the vehicle and the suspects drove away with the waitress in the vehicle,” the police said.

The waitress then ran out of the restaurant to confront the group about the $70 bill as they were trying to drive away, when she was pulled into the white Dodge Durango, according to 6abc. The waitress was reportedly assaulted and then dumped on the side of the road along State Highway 42, according to 6abc.

The waitress was able to run back to the restaurant and call police after she was released from the vehicle, 6abc reported. The waitress reportedly sustained bruises and a possible concussion.
The suspects have not been identified, and police are asking anyone with any information about the incident or the identities of the persons involved to contact detectives.
