The overturning of Bill Cosby’s sexual assault conviction and subsequent release from prison on Wednesday was apparently a “beautiful day” for women across the county, his spokesman said in an interview with the New York Post.

“It’s a beautiful day, not just for Bill Cosby because this is about all Americans, making sure that they get justice,” Andrew Wyatt, Cosby’s spokesman told the New York Post. “And you know, this was a fight for justice. And that’s what I fight for every day — justice and vindication for people done wrong by the judicial system.”

Cosby was released from prison after serving more than 2 years of his prison sentence after being convicted of drugging and molesting Andrea Constand at his residence in the Philadelphia suburbs. His conviction was overturned after it was discovered there was an agreement between Cosby and a former prosecutor that stated he would not be charged, as previously reported. Cosby has also been accused by multiple women of drugging them in the 1980s.

“I have never changed my stance nor my story,” Cosby tweeted after his release. “I have always maintained my innocence. Thank you to all my fans, supporters and friends who stood by me through this ordeal. Special thanks to the Pennsylvania Supreme Court for upholding the rule of law.”

Wyatt continued to explain the fight to free Cosby after his conviction.

“And you know, this was a fight for justice. And that’s what I fight for every day — justice and vindication for people done wrong by the judicial system,” Wyatt said. “Millions of supporters and millions of women have gotten in touch with us and said, ‘We know these women made up these allegations. We know it’s not true,” he alleged.

“It’s a beautiful day, and it’s a beautiful day, also for women,” Wyatt claimed.
