A new Marvel comic series features an unpatriotic Captain America slamming the American dream, calling it a “lie.”

The issue titled “The United States of Captain America” features the captain talking about how there’s not just the one American dream, but two, one of which is not real, and the other being “a lie.” The first issue was published Wednesday and is written by Christopher Cantwell.  (RELATED: The Governator Gets Animated: Comic Legend Stan Lee Creates Schwarzenegger Cartoon)

“I’m loyal to nothing. Except the dream,” Steve Rogers, Captain America, states in the first issue. “Here’s the thing about a dream, though. A dream isn’t real… I’m starting to think America actually has two dreams. And one lie.” (RELATED: ‘Black Panther’ Is A Quasi-Religious Atonement For White Guilt)

“The first American dream is the one that isn’t real,” he added. “It’s one some people expect to just be handed to them. And then they get angry when it disappears. When the truth is, it never really existed in the first place.”

Rogers then explains how the second American dream, the one about a home with a “white picket” fence, is a lie and “doesn’t get along” with things like other “cultures, immigrants” and “the poor.”

“We’re at our best when we keep no one out,” Captain American shared, the outlet noted. “A good dream is shared. Shared radically. Shared with everyone. When something isn’t shared, it can become the American lie.”

The report noted that during the episode, Rogers travels across the country meeting other Captain America type figures as they search for who stole the Captain’s red, white and blue shield.

These superheroes include a Native American Captain, a gay Captain and a black woman who reportedly has her own version of the character, along with her own shield.
