A man and woman are dead, along with a male suspect, after an apparent murder-suicide at a Texas bar Thursday night, according to authorities.

Houston Police received a call about shots fired around 8:10 p.m., according to Executive Chief Mark Slinkard. Officers arrived on the scene inside the Downtown Aquarium restaurant and found two victims on the floor with gunshot wounds and a third person, identified as the suspect, also dead from a gunshot wound.

Preliminary investigations found an unidentified man and woman were finishing dinner at the bar and when the suspect walked around the bar and immediately fired a shot at the male victim. The victim died on the scene. The suspect then allegedly struck the female victim with gunfire but she was transported to a hospital and is in stable condition, according to Slinkard.

The suspect then fired one shot and killed himself, according to Slinkard.

Slinkard said it does not appear the parties were together. Limited details were provided as the investigation remains ongoing.

“This is a horribly tragic incident. This is the type of situation that should make us all pause, send out as many prayers as we can for all of the families and all of the lives that will be affected by such a tragic incident like this,” Slinkard said.

Elaine Khalil was inside the restaurant at the time of the shooting and told ABC 13 she heard several gunshots and then chaos erupted. (RELATED: Teen Shot In Head Leaving Houston Astros Game With Family)

“Everyone started to run in one direction of the restaurant,” Khalil reportedly said. “There was panic and pandemonium.”

“It was a weeknight near closing so it was half full,” she continued. “We just followed the crowd into this small room that kind of curved around. Everyone was trying to get around. Another person was yelling to shut the door. Then the wait staff, they were very composed, they led us to a back staircase where everyone ran out.”
