A New Orleans woman was arrested and charged with second-degree murder Saturday after neighbors spotted her walking with a stroller covered in flies and found a dead baby inside.

Angelyc Seely, 35, was arrested Saturday in the 1400 block of North Broad Street after New Orleans Police Department (NOPD) officers responded to a call around 6:24 p.m., about a disturbance call.

“We were on our way this way to the hair store and to pick up some seafood and we saw the young lady pass by on the bicycle with a stroller and we didn’t think anything of it, but then we noticed a bunch of flies and thought, ‘Wait a minute,'” said Donna Banks, who lives nearby, according to 4WWL.

Neighbors said they went up to Seely and pulled the cover back on the stroller and noticed the baby was dead.

“I didn’t actually see the baby but the lady that did she was so distraught I thought for sure this lady was not lying about this,” Banks reportedly said. (RELATED: Dad Charged With Beating 6-Year-Old Son To Death)

Officers say they found an infant male “with apparent stab wounds.” The child was declared dead at the scene, police said. Paramedics said the child had been dead for quite some time, according to the report.

Seely was taken from the scene for “treatment of apparent self-inflicted wounds,” police said.

While at the hospital, Seely allegedly cut herself with scissors and said she wanted to be with her son, 4WWL reported citing court records.

Authorities later discovered, through their investigation, that Seely was the perpetrator. She was subsequently charged with second-degree murder.

Court records reportedly show officers found a bag nearby where Seely was and found a sharpened railroad spike covered in blood.
