Arnaldo Lozano-Sanchez was arrested around midnight Tuesday for shooting three and killing two tenants renting rooms in his Las Vegas home.

When police arrived at the home, they found two adults with gunshot wounds, according to Fox News.

Police then found another victim who was fatally shot in the home. Later on, one of the victims found with a gunshot wound also died from their injuries.

The dispute that led to the shooting started as an argument over unpaid rent by the tenants, according to Fox News. However, police have not been able to link the dispute to the eviction moratorium. Lozano-Sanchez “made statements about the victims not paying rent and that he was certainly upset about it,” said Chief Deputy District Attorney Tim Fattig, the outlet reports.

After firing his weapon, Lozano-Sanchez was “smiling and laughing” according to Carlos Gomez, one of Lozano-Sanchez’s tenants, Fox News reported.

Since the eviction moratorium expired July 31, the Biden administration has criticized congressional leadership for not extending the moratorium. The White House announced immediately prior to the expiration of the moratorium that it would let the ban lapse after a Supreme Court ruling.
