Angelina Jolie said she couldn’t talk about her divorce from Brad Pitt because she’s in her own “legal situation,” but admitted that during their marriage she feared for her “whole family.”

“I… I’m still in my own legal situation,” the 46-year-old actress shared during her interview with the Guardian. The comments were noted by the New York Post in a piece published Saturday. (RELATED: Brad Pitt’s Divorce Is Getting Downright Nasty. The Allegations Against Him Are Horrible)

“I can’t speak about that,” she added, before the reporter pressed her about headlines regarding the pair’s divorce, abuse allegations and whether she feared for the safety of her kids.

“Yes, for my family. My whole family,” she responded.

“It’s so hard,” Jolie continued. “I’d like to be able to have this discussion and it’s so important…I’m not the kind of person who makes decisions like the decisions I had to make lightly. It took a lot for me to be in a position where I felt I had to separate from the father of my children.” (RELATED: Report: Angelina Jolie Given Ultimatum Regarding Custody Of Her And Brad Pitt’s Kids)

In September 2016, the superstar actress filed for divorce from the 57-year-old actor after they tied the knot in 2014. The divorce wasn’t finalized until 2019.

The Hollywood star’s custody agreement regarding 5 of their 6 children remains in the news as the two work to find a healthy joint custody relationship, the outlet noted. The oldest is no longer a minor.

After the “Laura Croft: Tomb Raider” star filed for divorce, allegations came out that Pitt was under investigation for an alleged incident that occurred between Brad and their oldest child Maddox on a plane from the U.S to Europe. The Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services later cleared the actor of child abuse allegations in 2016.
