President Joe Biden appeared to be struggling to stay awake during the opening statements at Monday’s United Nations Conference on Climate Change (COP26).

Biden was captured on video nodding slightly and blinking for several seconds at a time, prompting the Washington Post’s Zach Purser Brown to ask whether the president was dozing off during the early moments of the conference. “Greta. Is. Disappointed. In. You,” conservative commentator Ben Shapiro tweeted, referencing teen climate activist Greta Thunberg.

“Why is he wasting time there anyway,” the New York Post’s Miranda Devine wondered. “He’s the president. He’s supposed to be a busy man.”

But quite a few people — even those who had been critical of Biden in the past — rallied behind him and argued that in his position, they might just do the same.

“He who has not totally zoned out in the middle a climate sermon cast the first stone,” David Burge tweeted.

“We feel ya, @POTUS,” the GOP Oversight Committee added.

Twitchy’s Doug Powers stepped in with a possible solution to the problem, however.

“Somebody play ice cream truck music to wake him up!” he said.

In Biden’s defense, the others visible in the video frame also appeared to be nodding off at times.
