It sounds like Penn State football coach James Franklin will be announcing major news within the next day.

Franklin is believed to be one of the frontrunners for the USC job, but it’s not clear at the moment whether or not he’ll leave the Nittany Lions for the Trojans. (RELATED: David Hookstead Is The True King In The North When It Comes To College Football)

Well, he hinted that big news will be announced Tuesday.

Franklin said the following in part after beating Rutgers when talking about whispers about his future, according to 247Sports:

I’ve tried to tell you guys before, these things are much more complicated than just a simple yes and no answers and, with me, I just am always trying to be as transparent as possible and tell you guys what I know and when I say something, it’s going to happen. If we could wait until Tuesday, I’d appreciate it, but I also understand the question.

The fact Franklin is teasing big news Tuesday makes me think that he’s definitely not going to be announcing he’s leaving.

Why the hell would Franklin make these comments if he was planning on leaving? He wouldn’t. He would just leave.

Coaches don’t really tell people they’re going to leave ahead of time. They just do it.

What I’m guessing is going to happen is that it’s going to be announced that Franklin is getting a big extension. That’s the only thing that makes sense.

Again, when coaches leave for another huge job, they generally don’t give people a heads up. They just dip out in the silence of the night.

I guess we’ll find out Tuesday, but as a betting man, I’m betting Franklin will be sticking around for awhile.
