The Miami Hurricanes have fired football coach Manny Diaz.

The Hurricanes announced Monday morning that Diaz has officially been removed as the head football coach of the program. (RELATED: David Hookstead Is The True King In The North When It Comes To College Football)

The team is now free and clear to hire Cristobal, which has been reported since the weekend.

Well, we all knew this was coming, and it’s now a done deal. If there was any doubt about whether or not Cristobal would be the next coach of the Hurricanes, we have our answer.

Miami was pretty clear Diaz would remain, unless Cristobal left Oregon.

Diaz is now gone, and that only means one thing is left to do. The team just has to get Cristobal’s ink on some paper.

Letting Diaz hang around for so long was a bit bizarre and kind of mean, but we’re in unprecedented times when it comes to hiring coaches.

Money is changing hands incredibly fast and teams are trying to make moves. It was simply time for Miami, and the trigger was pulled.

Now, we sit and wait for Cristobal’s introductory press conference.
