Ghislaine Maxwell’s brother Ian suggested during a Friday podcast that his sister likely believes disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein did not commit suicide and was instead murdered.

In an interview with The Spectator’s Americano podcast, Ian Maxwell told Freddy Gray that his sister likely believes in conspiracy theories.

“It so happens one of the conspiracy theories about my father is that he was murdered rather than committed suicide or died by accident,” Maxwell said. “Of all my siblings, Ghislaine is the only one who happens to believe he was murdered. I would venture to think that she also thinks Epstein was murdered.”

Maxwell himself said he is also slightly suspicious of Epstein’s death. (RELATED: ‘She Did Not Touch My Nipples’: Annie Farmer Gets Detailed When Pressed By Defense Over Alleged Maxwell Massage)

“I’m not wholly convinced that he killed himself. It’s not been very well explained how a man supposedly under 24-7 guard … could somehow die on the U.S. watch,” he said in the interview. “I think there is a possibility [Ghislaine ] is in some sort of danger. I don’t buy the suicide watch regime. She’s not a suicide risk.”

Maxwell said he believes his sister is innocent and that this case is a proxy case for Epstein.

“She should never have been put on trial,” Maxwell said. “The case against her is really a case against Jeffrey Epstein that’s been reverse engineered post his death against my sister. It’s been driven from the start by a combination of enormous embarrassment on the part of U.S. legal authorities on the one hand, and by the greed of lawyers of the accusers on the other hand that has whipped up a tremendous fury against my sister, that has totally trashed her presumption of innocence and has led to her being jailed for over 525 days, in isolation, treated as guilty before any trial.”

“She is innocent, but that’s been completely cast aside,” Maxwell said.

“It’s in a first-world country like the United States. It’s a disgrace,” he continued. “America must be held to account for what has happened here.”

Prosecutors rested their case Friday against Ghislaine Maxwell — just two weeks into the trial. Four people cam forward to accuse Maxwell of grooming them for sexual abuse by Epstein. One of the accusers, identified as Kate, alleged Maxwell introduced her to Epstein in the early 1990’s and convinced the teen to give Epstein a sexual massage before trying to convince her to recruit “cute, young, pretty” girls “like you.”
