An MSNBC panel called the Oregon father who had made a “Let’s go Brandon” remark on a call with President Joe Biden an insurrectionist Tuesday.
Wallace also played an excerpt from Steve Bannon‘s podcast, where Schmeck made an appearance following the incident and claimed that the 2020 presidential election was “100% stolen.”
“The asymmetry has always been what advantages the Trump right more than anything else. And the asymmetry of saying ‘F you’ to a sitting president on a call in front of your four kids — don’t look past this,” she said. “This is the slow-motion insurrection, Jason, in full color.”
Podcast host Jason Johnson, another member of the panel, echoed Wallace’s concerns, pointing out how ridiculous Schmeck’s complaints of being threatened for exercising freedom of expression sounded.
“There is nothing more entertaining to me than people’s whose names I have never heard of before saying ‘I am canceled,’ as they are being amplified. That’s the thing. I didn’t know who this Schmeck was five days ago. Now I know who he is, but he is being canceled,” Johnson said. Johnson then went on to label the “Let’s Go, Brandon” slogan a “cry of insurrectionists” and a mantra of those who wanted to “violently take over this country and oppress everyone who’s not like them.”
“Joe Biden can laugh it off or anything else like that — that’s fine. But I hope we have the Justice Department and the FBI and the CIA that investigates where the anger that leads to these kinds of statements comes from,” Johnson suggested.
