‘I’M NOT A BIOLOGIST’ … Judge Jackson Says She Can’t Define ‘Woman’ When Pressed By Sen. Blackburn (VIDEO)

Supreme Court nominee Ketanji Brown Jackson told Republican Tennessee Sen. Marsha Blackburn that she could not define the word “woman” at her Tuesday confirmation hearing.

“Can you provide a definition for the word ‘woman?’” Blackburn asked, to which Jackson replied, “Can I provide a definition? No, I can’t.”

“You can’t?” Blackburn pressed. “Not in this context, I’m not a biologist,” the nominee interjected.

The senator asked if the term is too controversial and unclear for her to provide a definition. Jackson said that her role as a judge is to address disputes about a definition and make a final decision after reviewing the controversy.

“The fact that you can’t give me a straight answer about something as fundamental as what a woman is, that underscores the dangers of the kind of progressive education that we are hearing about,” Blackburn said.

‘Is He The Victim?’: Sen. Josh Hawley Presses Judge Jackson For ‘Apologizing’ To Child Porn Offender (VIDEO)

Republican Missouri Sen. Josh Hawley pressed Supreme Court nominee Ketanji Brown Jackson on allegedly “apologizing” to a child pornography offender at Tuesday’s confirmation hearing.

Hawley raised the case United States v. Hawkins, where Jackson sentenced an 18-year-old child porn offender 3 months imprisonment, despite sentencing guidelines recommending up to 10 years. He read a transcript in which Jackson allegedly told the convict there is “no reason to think” that he is a pedophile.

“Didn’t you apologize to him? And I just got to tell you, I can’t quite figure this out,” Hawley said. “You said to him, ‘This is a truly difficult situation. I appreciate that your family’s in the audience. I feel so sorry for them, and for you and the anguish this has caused all of you. I feel terrible about the collateral consequences of this conviction.’ And then you go on to say ‘sex offenders are truly shunned in our society.’ I’m just trying to figure out, judge, is he the victim here?”

“Senator, again, I don’t have the entire record,” Jackson replied. “I remember in that particular case, I considered it to be unusual, in part for the reasons I described. I remember in that case that defense counsel was arguing for probation, in part, because he argued, we had a very young man, [who] just graduated from high school, he presented all of his diplomas and certificates and the things that he had done.”

She argued she had the responsibility to consider sentencing disparities, factors and circumstances of the defendant in the process of considering his sentence. She said she considered a number of factors that the defendant, government and probation office were pointing to.

“I sent this 18-year-old to 3 months in federal prison under circumstances that were presented in this case because I wanted him to understand that what he had done was harmful, that what he had done was unlawful, that what he had done violated the law and needed to be punished not only by prison but by the many other things that the law requires of a judge who is sentencing in this area,” Jackson continued.

DICK DURBIN DISMISSES QUESTIONS AS ‘ATTACKS’… RNC: Democrat Sen. Dick Durbin says legitimate questions from Republicans about Ketanji Brown Jackson’s lenient treatment of convicted child pornographers amount to “attacks.” (VIDEO)

WHITE HOUSE ACCUSES HAWLEY OF SUPPORTING ‘QANON’ FOR HIS CONCERN ABOUT CHILDREN… DAILY MAIL: White House slams Josh Hawley’s ’embarrassing, QAnon-signaling smears’ of SCOTUS pick Ketanji Brown Jackson: Senator says he ‘lives in fear’ his children will be exposed to child porn and questions why she didn’t give pedophiles tougher sentences (VIDEO)

White House deputy press secretary Andrew Bates accused Sen. Josh Hawley of an ’embarrassing, QAnon-signaling smear’ for his criticisms of Supreme Court nominee Ketanji Brown Jackson’s sentencing record in child pornography cases.

Bates noted on Twitter that Hawley’s complaints had been fact-checked by a number of mainstream media outlets. […]

Hawley noted that Jackson told the defendant: ‘This seems to be a case where you were fascinated by sexual images involving what were essentially your peers.’

‘And then you went on to say the defendant was merely trying to satisfy his curiosity. Curiosity is your word.’

‘Judge he was 18 these kids are eight!’ Hawley said furiously. ‘I don’t see in what sense they’re peers. I’ve got a nine year old, a seven year old and a 16 month old at home, and I live in fear that they will be exposed to let alone exploited in this kind of material.’

KBJ SAYS SHE DOESN’T RELY ON CRITICAL RACE THEORY EXCEPT FOR WHEN SHE DOES… RNC: Ketanji Brown Jackson says Critical Race Theory “doesn’t come up in the work that I do as a judge.” Senator @tedcruz then reads a quote from her saying that Critical Race Theory is part of her work as judge. (VIDEO)

KBJ IS ON THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES FOR A GENDER THEORY & CRT-PUSHING HIGH SCHOOL… FREE BEACON: Ketanji Brown Jackson Has Leadership Role at School Promoting Critical Race Theory

President Joe Biden’s Supreme Court nominee Ketanji Brown Jackson serves on the board of trustees of an elite, private Washington, D.C., high school that promotes critical race theory and other progressive ideals.

Fox News reported Tuesday that Jackson since 2019 has been a board member at Georgetown Day School, which is pursuing an “antiracism action plan” and recommends to families literature on critical race theory and racial intersectionality.

The school is undertaking an “antiracism journey” with objectives including mandated antiracism training and education for staff members, and reform of curriculum from a social justice perspective. It also promotes controversial “antiracist resources,” such as Richard Delgado’s Critical Race Theory and Ibram X. Kendi’s How to Be an Antiracist.

GENDER THEORY… RNC: SEN BLACKBURN: Georgetown Day School “teaches kindergarteners…that they can choose their gender. Is this what you were praising when you applauded the ‘transformative power'” of their “progressive education?” JACKSON: “I’m not remembering exactly what quote you’re referencing” (VIDEO)

SPENCER BROWN: NEW: Georgetown Day School, where Judge Jackson is a board member, had 2nd graders repeatedly organize “gender-neutral toy stores” to push leftist lessons about gender identity, transgenderism, and “what it means to be non-binary.” Here’s what GDS released* after 2019’s event (VIDEO)

*To protect the students’ privacy, the video above only includes the audio from the original video released by Georgetown Day School along with a freeze-frame from the GDS video that shows a “Gender Snowperson,” along with definitions for cisgender, transgender, and non-binary.

CRT… RNC: Senator @tedcruz: “If you look at the Georgetown Day School’s curriculum, it is filled and overflowing with critical race theory” — including books declaring “babies are racist.” Ketanji Brown Jackson is on this school’s board. (VIDEO)

Georgetown Day School said it will mandate “annual anti-racism education for all faculty/staff.” The school also announced that second grade students “examined the races and ethnicities of the people in their lives.” Elementary classes “also read A Kid’s Book About Racism by Jelani Memory and Race Cars: A Children’s Book about White Privilege by Jenny Devenny to unpack the concepts of racism and unearned privilege.”

KBJ BACKTRACKS ON CRT NOT BEING ‘TAUGHT IN SCHOOLS’… RNC: JACKSON on CRT in schools: “Georgetown Day School…is a private school” … @TedCruz: “So you agree critical race theory is taught at Georgetown Day School” JACKSON, after Cruz outlined numerous examples: “I don’t know”‘ Jackson serves on the board. (VIDEO)

JOEL POLLAK: Oh, man. Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson is backtracking on her earlier statement that Critical Race Theory is not taught in schools, after evidence that it is taught in her Georgetown private school, saying that she thought he meant “public schools.” @tedcruz really nailing it here.

CHRIS RUFO: Ketanji Brown Jackson has never studied critical race theory, can’t tell if it’s in the private school curriculum she supervises, and isn’t familiar with the work of Ibram Kendi. None of these claims are believable.

As an aide put up slides taken from the Antiracist baby book, Cruz said “One portion of the book says babies are taught to racist or antiracist, there is no neutrality.” He continued, “Another portion of the book, they recommend the babies confess when being racist. This is a book that is taught at Georgetown Day School to students in pre-K through 2nd grade, so four through seven years old. Do you agree with this book that is being taught to kids that babies are racist?”

Judge Jackson sighed and said “Senator…” and then there was a long pause lasting 7-8 seconds.

And then Judge Jackson suddenly made clear that she understood pretty clearly the kind of CRT-inspired antiracism that is being taught in schools. “I do not believe that any child should be made to feel as though they are racist or though they are not valued or though they are less than, that they are victims, that they are oppressors. I don’t believe in any of that,” she said. And in that one statement she pretty thoroughly tossed Ibram Kendi and many other antiracist trainers under the bus.

BIDEN OFF TO BRUSSELS… REUTERS: Biden’s Brussels trip to highlight new Russia sanctions, NATO posture plans

WASHINGTON, March 22 (Reuters) – U.S. President Joe Biden and his European counterparts will announce new sanctions against Russia and new measures to tighten existing sanctions during his trip to Brussels this week, national security adviser Jake Sullivan said on Tuesday.

Biden also will discuss longer-term adjustments to NATO force posture and contingencies in the case of nuclear weapons use, Sullivan said. Biden also will announce “joint action” on enhancing energy security in Europe, which is highly reliant on Russian gas.

The United States and its allies have imposed sweeping sanctions against Russia as punishment for invading Ukraine and supplied billions of dollars in weapons and aid for Ukraine’s defense. Biden has pledged not to send U.S. soldiers into Ukraine, but promised to keep Washington’s commitment to defend NATO members if they were attacked.

Biden leaves on Wednesday for Brussels, where NATO and the European Union are based, for meetings on Thursday with fellow leaders. He will attend an emergency NATO summit, meet with G7 leaders, and address European Union leaders at a meeting of the European Council, Sullivan said.

UKRAINE INVASION MORE THAN PUTIN BARGAINED FOR… NYT: As Russia Stalls in Ukraine, Dissent Brews Over Putin’s Leadership

The lack of progress is so apparent that a blame game has begun among some Russian supporters of the war — even as Russian propaganda claims that the slog is a consequence of the military’s care to avoid harming civilians. Igor Girkin, a former colonel in Russia’s F.S.B. intelligence agency and the former “defense minister” of Russian-backed separatists in eastern Ukraine, said in a video interview posted online on Monday that Russia had made a “catastrophically incorrect assessment” of Ukraine’s forces. […]

“There was probably the hope that they wouldn’t resist so intensely,” Yevgeny Buzhinsky, a retired lieutenant general and a regular Russian state television commentator, said of Ukraine’s forces. “They were expected to be more reasonable.”

As if responding to criticism, Mr. Putin has said repeatedly in his public comments about the war that it is going “according to plan.”

“We can definitively say that nothing is going to plan,” countered Pavel Luzin, a Russian military analyst. “It has been decades since the Soviet and Russian armies have seen such great losses in such a short period of time.”

FOR NORMAL PEOPLE, COVID’S OVER… NATE HOCHMAN: Most Americans Are Moving On from Covid. Progressive Elites Aren’t

Notably, it’s Democrats who are reporting the largest shift in views toward the pandemic. According to recent numbers from Morning Consult, “the share of adults who say COVID-19 is a severe health risk in their local community fell to an all-time low of 17%, driven by a roughly 20-point decrease among Democrats in recent weeks. Just under a quarter of Democrats now say COVID-19 is a severe local risk, compared with 12% of Republicans, a level that has also fallen since late January.” From January 14 to March 13, the share of American adults who see Covid as a “severe” health risk fell 17 points, from 34 to 17 percent. Among Republicans, that number fell 11 points, from 23 to 12 percent. But among Democrats over that time period, it fell 23 points, from 46 to 23.

If you get your news from the New York Times, you could be forgiven for not knowing any of this. Here’s a sampling of headlines from the nation’s paper of record over the last week:

MEET BIDEN’S NEW CLOWN PRINCE OF COVID… Biden’s New COVID Czar Was America’s Leading Lockdown Advocate

President Joe Biden’s new COVID-19 response czar was a founding father of America’s “14 days to flatten the curve” lockdown strategy.

Dr. Ashish Jha, the dean of the Brown University School of Public Health, is a highly credentialed healthcare policy scholar. He spent time as a professor at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health and earned degrees from Columbia and Harvard with a residency at University of California, San Francisco. He has also been one of America’s most vocal advocates of COVID-19 restrictions, from vaccine mandates to business lockdowns. […]

Jha is perhaps most notable for his advocacy for a two-week lockdown of the entire country in March 2020, when the virus was first beginning to rapidly spread across America. He received substantial media attention as a Harvard doctor calling for a national quarantine, making him one of the earliest public health experts to advocate for lockdowns. Jha’s advocacy, along with others, helped lead to the adoption of the plan, “two weeks to flatten the curve,” when coronavirus restrictions were first put in place to allow authorities time to ramp up testing capacity and develop strategies for combatting the pandemic. […]

In 2020, when Black Lives Matter protests spread rapidly across the country following the murder of George Floyd by a Minneapolis police officer, Jha wrote an op-ed arguing that mass gatherings for protests were acceptable because, in part, “there is a serious risk and grave public health cost to not addressing systemic racism against black people in America.”

VAXXED WHITE HOUSE PRESS SEC CATCHES COVID AGAIN… Psaki Tests Positive For COVID Hours Before Biden’s Big Europe Trip

White House press secretary Jen Psaki tested positive for COVID-19, she announced in a statement Tuesday.

Psaki noted she took a test “in preparation” for the administration’s trip to Europe. President Joe Biden is slated to travel to Brussels, Belgium, on Wednesday to attend an extraordinary NATO Summit and a European Council Summit regarding Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. He’s then scheduled to head to Warsaw, Poland on Friday.

Psaki said she attended “two socially-distanced meetings with” Biden on Monday and added he is “not considered a close contact as defined by CDC guidance.” The press secretary’s positive COVID test means she won’t travel with Biden to Europe.

Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton announced Tuesday she tested positive for the coronavirus.

“Well, I’ve tested positive for COVID. I’ve got some mild cold symptoms but am feeling fine,” Clinton tweeted. “I’m more grateful than ever for the protection vaccines can provide against serious illness. Please get vaccinated and boosted if you haven’t already!”

Clinton said her husband, former President Bill Clinton, tested negative and was feeling fine.

“He’s quarantining until our household is fully in the clear. Movie recommendations appreciated!” she said.

DISNEY WALKOUT PROTESTERS ‘OUTNUMBERED… BY MEMBERS OF THE MEDIA’ … NYT: Disney Employees Walk Out Amid Furor Over Florida Legislation

Last week, still-unsatisfied Disney employees began organizing protests with a website, WhereIsChapek.com. On Friday, Walt Disney Studios let it be known that a same-sex kiss that had been cut from Pixar’s upcoming “Lightyear” had been restored. Over the weekend, announcers at Disney-owned ESPN protested the legislation with on-air silence during the N.C.A.A. women’s basketball tournament.

And now Disney — a company that cultivates perfection as part of its brand — finds itself in the third week of a mess.

On Tuesday, the WhereIsChapek employee protests culminated with various actions. None were particularly boisterous, although they succeeded in commanding the news media’s attention. On Tuesday morning, a CNBC crew reported live from the front gates of Disney’s corporate headquarters in Burbank, Calif.

Some Disney artists posted support on Twitter, where the hashtag #DisneySayGay was prominent midmorning. Sixty to 70 Disney employees briefly walked in a loop around Walt Disney Studios in Burbank. Down the street at the Bette Davis Picnic Area, a smattering of Disney employees gathered in protest, although they seemed outnumbered, at least at one point, by members of the news media.

EARLIER… CONSERVATIVE DISNEY EMPLOYEES REVEAL HOSTILE WORK ENVIRONMENT… DAILY WIRE: ‘They Call Their Fellow Employees Bigots’: Conservatives At Disney Issue Open Statement Detailing Hostile Work Environment

As LGBT employees at Disney get ready to stage a walkout on March 22 over Disney’s attempt to remain neutral on Florida’s “Parental Rights in Education” bill, conservative staffers have issued an open letter of their own.

Published Monday and provided to The Daily Wire in advance, the authors reveal that they do not feel safe in their jobs and say that Disney has “come to be an increasingly uncomfortable place to work for those of us whose political and religious views are not explicitly progressive.” The staffers say they’ve watched silently as Disney villainizes and condemns political leaders who share their opinions.

WISCONSIN COUNTY EXEC WANTS TO AXE PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE & ‘PRAYER’ — BECAUSE IT’S ‘TOO DIVISIVE’ … AP: Pledge of Allegiance dispute: Dane Co. supervisor wants to eliminate it

MADISON, Wis. – A Dane County supervisor wants to eliminate the Pledge of Allegiance from county board meetings, claiming the recitation is divisive.

Heidi Wegleitner has proposed removing the pledge as well as the word “prayer” from the board rules, which are currently undergoing a biannual redraft.

The board’s executive committee will consider Wegleitner’s proposal at a meeting Thursday, although newly elected supervisors would have the final say following the April 5 election.

“It just doesn’t feel like it’s appropriate for us to be doing, when in a pluralistic society we want to be inclusive and representative,” said Wegleitner. “At the end of the day, I think it’s divisive.”

Remember back in May 2020, when Donald Trump said he was “confident” vaccines would be available by the end of the year? NBC fact-checked that claim and determined that “experts say he needs a ‘miracle’ to be right.” That October, when Trump said a vaccine was imminent, an organization called Science Feedback, one of Facebook’s official fact-checking partners, declared that “widespread Covid-19 vaccination is not expected before mid-2021.” In reality, the vaccine rollout began two months later, in December 2020. […]

Then there are those hard-to-miss moments when factual reports of obvious blunders are recontextualized as “mostly false” or “misleading,” in order to spare political officials and their patrons the trouble of defending their unpopular policies. In early February, the Washington Free Beacon reported that the Biden administration was “set to fund the distribution of crack pipes to drug addicts as part of its plan to advance ‘racial equity.’” The report was quickly seized on by conservative commentators and politicians who picked up on the fact that millions of Americans would see such a plan as, on its face, idiotic, and cartoonishly racist, and thus an embarrassment to the White House. In the old days, the revelation might have led to some lower-level bureaucrat stepping forward to fall on his or her sword, or at least admit blame. But times have changed, and now instead of managing public fallout from the gaffe, the advanced guard of the fact-checking bureau can issue official decrees that there never was a gaffe and any suggestions of one are misinformation, while erasing the evidence of contrary views.
