The Jacksonville Jaguars might be prepared to shock the world with the first pick of the NFL draft.
Pretty much everyone believes Michigan DE Aidan Hutchinson will be the first name called when the draft gets underway April 28. He was a star for the Wolverines and there’s a massive premium put on pass rushers in the NFL. (RELATED: David Hookstead Is The True King In The North When It Comes To College Football)
However, it sounds like the Jags might go a different direction. Georgia star Travon Walker might be the play, according to Peter Schrager and Mike Garafolo.
“Everyone’s inking Aidan Hutchinson to the @Jaguars. Around the NFL, there’s talk about GM Trent Baalke, and his draft history with SF. Year after year, the 49ers took players with incredible physical traits over the top collegiate performers. That’s Travon Walker.” — @PSchrags pic.twitter.com/WbxFkH6W9B

More Travon Walker to #Jags at No. 1 chatter, this time from @PSchrags. I’ve heard the chatter Trent Baalke sees a lot of Aldon Smith in Walker. We’re 17 days away from Baalke and the Jags making their decision… https://t.co/yUOY24iYL2

Obviously, we have more than two weeks left until the draft gets underway, and a lot can change between now and April 28. Having said that, if the Jags go with Travon Walker, it will send shockwaves through the NFL.
Travon Walker is a freak of nature athlete, a massive body and was a very good player in the SEC. From a physicality standpoint, he has everything an NFL GM could ever want.

Will the Jaguars go that direction and shock everyone by passing on Hutchinson? I have no idea, but we can’t rule anything out. If there’s one thing we know about the NFL, it’s that it’s best to expect the unexpected.
Plus, I wouldn’t hate if Hutchinson fell to the Lions at number two!
That said…a couple things that jumped out w Travon Walker…
-He’s *very* solid vs the run. Great eyes. As raw as he is as a rusher, this will help ease the transition.
-Was surprised by how smooth he was in coverage at his size. He’s got like 5 inches on Bigsby here. pic.twitter.com/214p8XVKBX

We’ll see how it all shakes out over the coming weeks, but it sounds like the Jaguars might be ready to mix things up!
